At the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the new version of the Hyundai i30 will be unveiled: the Project C, a special edition with only 600 units for all of Europe

Major motor events are the perfect excuse to launch new versions of well-known models and thus complement the range available at dealerships. So it’s no surprise that Hyundai is taking advantage of the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show to show us the Hyundai i30 Project C, a special edition of its compact that seeks to offer some aesthetic changes to the model and make it more appealing to potential buyers.

This variant will be something special, with only 600 units intended for several markets, including Spain. The name Project C comes from the Area C, the research and development area in Namyang, Korea. The changes offered are, as I’ve already mentioned, aesthetic, since the engine remains unchanged from the one fitted to the standard model. It is a four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine, with a power output of 270 CV and a maximum torque of 353 Nm, which delivers more than enough performance to enjoy driving.

Until now, only a series of images of the car in camouflage had been seen, but now we can watch a video, from which some images have been extracted to reveal the details this special edition will feature, both exterior and interior, ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Carbon fibre will be present in several areas of the car, notably the front diffuser, the bonnet, the roof spoiler, the side skirts and the rear diffuser.

The 19-inch alloy wheels are inspired by competition cars, so there is a weight reduction compared with the production version. Inside, changes have also been made, although the spirit of the original car is maintained. The steering wheel is covered in Alcantara with red buttons for changing drive modes. The red colour is also present in the seat stitching, which is likewise upholstered in Alcantara. The gear knob is metal in this version, giving the whole ensemble a more attractive and dynamic look.
