Hyundai continues with the teasers for the Hyundai Kona N, a model that already shows its look and will be revealed much sooner than we think.

Hyundai announced a few weeks ago that the Hyundai Kona N would become a reality this 2021, as the test mules spotted at the Nürburgring had suggested. Today, the Korean brand is speaking out on the subject again, with more solid information about its first sporty SUV. The Kona N will finally inherit numerous elements from its sibling in the range, the Hyundai i30 N, so the brand is securing a result that is already proven and popular.

For now, Hyundai has revealed -and confirmed- few details about the Kona N, but they are enough to get an idea of where things are heading. In this way, we can expect an efficient, fast and more versatile product than the i30 N, since the Kona N will keep the versatility characteristic of an SUV.

In terms of styling, we will find a spicy, sporty and aggressive car, which stands out, in addition to the restyling that Hyundai has applied to the Kona family, with a specific front splitter and a very eye-catching diffuser. We should also add specific wheels for this version, a lowered ground clearance, a new-cut rear spoiler, more aggressive sill protectors and two oval exhaust outlets ready to deliver a catchy soundtrack.

The cabin will feature sport-cut seats, an N steering wheel with specific buttons and a gear knob also specific to this version. However, the real highlight of the Hyundai Kona N will be found in its mechanical section, where the star will be a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder, that is, the same engine found in the i30 N.

With this in mind, the Hyundai Kona N will be offered with two power levels. The more “modest” of them will be represented by 250 CV, while the Performance variant with 275 CV and a limited-slip differential. On top of all this, we should add an eight-speed DCT dual-clutch gearbox, although a manual gearbox is also expected to be available.

For now Hyundai has not offered presentation dates, but considering that its development is finished, we can expect it to be sometime this January. In this way, the Korean firm continues expanding the N family, a family that will soon have more members to put an end to the European dominance in the field of compact and compact sporty SUVs.
