The Ineos Grenadier in trouble: production lines halted due to a missing component
The Ineos Grenadier is facing serious manufacturing problems due to the bankruptcy of one of the suppliers of parts for its production.

One of the best-known off-roaders today is the Ineos Grenadier. A vehicle designed to go head-to-head with the Land Rover Defender and update the concepts that shaped that legendary model. It is the work of Sir Jim Radcliffe, who was determined to create a reliable and efficient off-roader under the umbrella of his chemicals company. And so the Ineos Grenadier was born, which has brought considerable success to the company since it was announced.
But that success has been cut short because for a few weeks now, the company has run into a problem it did not expect, which has caused a serious delay in the manufacturing of the units in progress. Production has stopped at the French Hambach plant, with no set date for activity to resume.

Unlike other brands, the situation has not been caused by the company’s poor economic health, but rather by the situation of the company that supplies a key component for manufacturing the model. Curiously, Ineos has not announced which company has entered bankruptcy, and speculation is rife.
Everything points to Recaro, the maker of car and aircraft seats, as the company causing these delays. Recaro went bankrupt last July and announced that it was trying to overcome its financial problems. For now, it appears that the shortage of this component, without which each Grenadier and Quartermaster unit cannot be fully assembled, is what is preventing the plant from continuing to operate normally.
Whether it is Recaro, which is the most likely, or another company that supplies parts to Ineos, the brand is giving its supplier time to recover and continue with the agreed service. At the same time, they are looking for an alternative source for this part from another supplier, so they expect that, whatever happens, production will resume in early 2025.
The Ineos Grenadier is already sold in 45 countries, and this September it will also arrive in Mexico and China. For now, it is expected that by early 2025 20,000 units will have been delivered to their buyers.
