The Kia Stinger is almost ready for its market launch at the end of the year

Although its official presentation took place at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year, the Kia Stinger is still undergoing several road tests before moving into the final development phase. The brand is asking for calm and assures that everything is going according to the scheduled dates and that the model will be ready to reach the market before the year is out. The tests continue because, as Kia announces, it must be a car that lives up to the demands of buyers. Not long ago we heard the sound of its exhaust, which was considered very poor for this model.

To put the car to the test, it still has to complete several days of trials on the Nürburgring circuit, where the various prototypes of many car manufacturers are usually put into action. The demanding layout of this circuit is known as the Green Hell. Each of the prototypes will have to complete a minimum of 480 laps of the circuit, roughly 10,000 kilometres. If we compare this with a road journey, the demands of the circuit amount to 160,000 km of driving on conventional roads.

The Kia Stinger, according to sources from the brand, does not want to be a car that boasts impressive power, with a high-performance aerodynamic kit or an aggressive style, at the expense of functionality, luxury equipment and comfort. What the Korean brand intends is to create a car designed for long journeys in comfort and with good performance, without losing any of the comfort needed for these trips.

The intention of the Stinger is to take on models such as the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé and the Audi A5 Sportback, with an engine line-up that will include, among other units, a 2.0-litre turbo, offering 255 CV of power and a maximum torque of 352 Nm. Another engine available in this model is the 3.3-litre V6 with a considerable 356 CV and maximum torque of 494 Nm. The figures this latter engine provides allow it to reach 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 269 km/h.
