The Lexus LX 600 is armored thanks to INKAS's work

Armored vehicles are not usually city cars or mid-range or entry-level cars. It is premium cars that receive this defensive treatment. And that is logical, since the cost of the conversion is not cheap at all. Furthermore, protection is usually needed by a very specific type of driver, so these kinds of modifications are not within everyone’s reach.

The Lexus LX 600 falls into this category, so it is more than suitable as a candidate to enjoy this kind of treatment. INKAS has been the company responsible for creating this armored version of the Japanese SUV, which will go on sale for anyone who wants to enjoy this model with complete safety. It offers both its equipment and the added armor protection.

A bulletproof SUV

The Lexus LX 600 is available to everyone, and its armor will protect the occupants from external attacks. It uses armor that is rated CEN 1063 BR6. This allows it to withstand an attack with assault rifles using 7.62 caliber ammunition, making it very practical in most cases. In addition, it resists the explosion of two DM51 hand grenades.

INKAS has worked replacing body elements and the glass of the side and front and rear windows. It uses ballistic glass and has reinforced the door and window frames so they can withstand pressure. The cabin has been reinforced and armored.

To improve protection and reinforce vehicle control, INKAS has upgraded the suspension, installed armored protection on the underbody of the vehicle, and protected both the fuel tank and the engine compartment. The wheels are fitted with run-flat tires to facilitate escape in an emergency.

To signal its status, the Lexus LX 600 is equipped with emergency lights. Customers can also order a communications and public address system, with an external siren. The doors have assistance systems and an emergency escape route if needed. At the end of 2022, a ten-piston braking system can be added.

Engine

Under the hood is the 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine. This unit delivers 409 CV and a maximum torque of 649 Nm. It is paired with a ten-speed automatic gearbox, which sends torque to all four wheels. Straight from the factory, the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is rated at 6.9 seconds, although with the extra weight of the armor, it will be considerably slower.
