Mercedes Electric Cars Hybrid Cars SUV Urban
The Mercedes Clase A will remain on sale until 2028 at least, and the brand is planning another model for this segment
Mercedes will halt production of the Clase B in 2026 and of the Clase A in 2028, although it plans to launch a new electrified model.

Mercedes is restructuring its strategy for the future. One of the things we were told some time ago is that the entry-level cars, those built to get around the city, were going to drop out of the German brand’s lineup. But in recent months the plans seem to have changed, and the disappearance of several of these models is not as imminent as it seemed.
To begin with, it must be borne in mind that the Mercedes Clase B is indeed set to be discontinued in 2026. This means only a few months remain before it stops being produced, and once the stock runs out, there will be no way to get one of these cars. But as far as the Mercedes Clase A is concerned, the situation is very different.

Until 2028 and beyond, an electric mini crossover
The Mercedes Clase A is going to stay on the market longer and will be built until 2028. The brand wants to remain present in the compact segment, and this will be one of the models that allows it to do so. With the Mercedes Clase A’s presence, the brand will stay in this segment, but optimising its range within it.
But this model already has a successor once it leaves the market. According to rumours, Mercedes is already working on a small crossover, which would sit below the GLA and GLB. Consequently, this model will be sold at a price of around 30,000 euros. The model aims to offer customers quality bodywork in a small, manageable size, suited to getting around the city.
The key to this new model is the MMA platform, designed to be highly flexible and to provide a base for different types of engines, from combustion to electric, including hybrid models. This platform will not only underpin this model but will also be available for other future models that will mark the brand’s path.
Until now, the entry level was expected to be the CLA, although this has finally been ruled out. The name of this model could be related to the letter G, which is used to designate the brand’s SUVs. This would match the most in-demand bodystyle and a price lower than the higher models.
So let’s wait a little and see what Mercedes proposes in order to assess the future model that will become the entry point to a brand that will remain focused on quality, luxury and functionality.
