The Mercedes Clase C coupé and cabrio also get updated
Mercedes-Benz’s Clase C continues its renewal and now it is the turn of the Mercedes Clase C coupé and cabrio. More sportiness and plenty of technology.
A few weeks after learning what the new look of the Clase C of Mercedes will be, the German manufacturer is also updating the coupé and cabrio versions. A discreet restyling in terms of the exterior, but very comprehensive in the interior of the vehicles. New four-cylinder engines with a 48-volt on-board network and a fully digitalised interior.

New engines
The Mercedes Clase C coupé and cabrio renew their engines with four-cylinder units for both the petrol and the diesel versions. In the case of the C 220d, it gains 25 CV of maximum power over its predecessor and rises to 194 CV. This unit features substantial improvements to its components, including an aluminium engine block, steel pistons with a stepped cavity and NANOSLIDE coating for the cylinder liners.
The petrol version of the Mercedes Clase C coupé and cabrio features a 1.5-litre engine that delivers 184 CV. This unit is combined with EQ Boost technology and offers a hybrid system thanks to a motor that supports the combustion engine with 14 extra CV, which play a leading role during acceleration from low speeds until the turbo reaches its full potential.
For its part, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 Coupé and Cabrio arrive equipped with the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 that produces 390 CV and 520 Nm of maximum torque. Thus, the most radical version of the Clase C two-door has a top speed limited to 250 km/h, reaching 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds in the coupé and 4.8 seconds in the cabrio.

Dynamism in abundance, culminating in the optional DYNAMIC BODY CONTROL chassis. Fitted with progressive damping adjustment on the front and rear axles, its three driving modes (Comfort, Sport and Sport+) allow the engine, gearbox and steering parameters to be adjusted depending on driving style, speed and road conditions.
Aesthetic restyling
The aesthetic renewal of the Mercedes Clase C coupé and cabrio is subtly visible on the exterior of the car. Emphasising the sporty silhouette of both models, especially at the front and rear, with new alloy wheels, a new design of the headlights and two new colours: Mojave silver metallic and, exclusively for the coupé and cabrio, graphite grey.
The interior does show substantial changes. The centre console boasts more elegant and streamlined finishes. In addition, optionally, it can be equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster in three different styles, “Classic”, “Sport” and “Progressive”, featuring a central 10.25-inch display and another 12.3-inch screen replacing the standard instrument cluster.

Cutting-edge assistants
One of the biggest leaps forward in the new Mercedes Clase C coupé and cabrio can be seen, as in the case of the saloon, in their innovative active safety systems. The Clase C models are equipped with the most modern generation of Mercedes-Benz driver assistance systems, a technological compendium that allows them to drive semi-autonomously in certain situations.
Among the systems fitted is the innovative DISTRONIC active distance assist, which helps the driver by adapting the car’s speed in situations as varied as tight bends, junctions or roundabouts, thanks to information received through the sensors, cameras and radars that scan the vehicle’s surroundings.
It also features an active lane change assistant with intuitive operation and an active emergency stop assistant. The active brake assist fitted as standard has extended functions designed to help the driver avoid collisions.
