The Mission E, Closer to Reality After Mark Webber's Test Drive

Porsche is about to finish developing its highly anticipated Mission E, which has been driven by former racing driver Mark Webber, and here are his impressions.

The future of the automotive industry comes hand in hand with the most prestigious car brands, which are showcasing major technological advances in their latest creations. Porsche and the Mission E have been a clear example of revolution, since the German firm ventured to show the world what would be its first 100% electric vehicle. Following the presentation of the concept car, we are much closer to seeing its production version, which former racing driver Mark Webber has had the opportunity to drive.

Porsche has placed all its trust in the Australian to deliver his final verdict on the capabilities of its latest electric creation, which promises to revolutionise the automotive world. Webber has a wealth of experience in the world of Porsche, having competed on countless occasions with the all-powerful 919 Hybrid, a racing car that features the brand’s hybrid technology.

The German brand has managed to separate everything it learned from its experience with hybrid sports cars, and apply it to its clearly electric future. The Mission E is presented as a completely new concept, which aims to take on the Tesla head-on, offering comfort and unprecedented performance in a saloon.

To demonstrate this, Porsche enlisted the help of Mark Webber, who got behind the wheel of a test mule of the future Mission E to give us all his impressions. Mark says he has driven many types of vehicles throughout his life, but none has impressed him as much as the electric saloon from Porsche. The former racing driver admits that the view and the sensations from the driver’s seat have been taken directly from the 918 Spyder, something that gives the Mission E the behaviour of a supercar.

Inside, we find several batteries capable of delivering 600 CV of power which is distributed among the four wheels of the Mission E. Webber remarks with surprise how it also reminds him of his trusty companion through many gruelling races, the 919 Hybrid. The Australian is pleasantly surprised when it comes to taking corners in the German saloon, something that is accentuated thanks to the four-wheel steering that the Mission E will be equipped with. This feeling is also combined with the great braking power offered by the electric Porsche, an essential element in a vehicle of its calibre.

Mark Webber leaves the scene with a broad smile and, although the former racing driver cannot make too many statements on the matter, it is clear that the Mission E has left him with a good taste in his mouth. For now we do not know any more details about Porsche’s future electric saloon, but we can confirm that it will soon become a reality.
