The Mitsubishi ASX and Grandis receive a new hybrid powertrain for the Motion trim
The Mitsubishi ASX and Grandis now offer the self-charging hybrid 180 HEV powertrain in their entry-level Motion trim

The catalogue of Mitsubishi in Spain has once again been growing little by little thanks to the alliance it maintains with Renault, and as a result two of its major assets are the ASX, launched in spring 2024 and based on the Captur, and the Grandis, a model that arrived in summer of last year and was based on the Symbioz.
Both models now make entry into the world of hybrid vehicles (HEV) more accessible, thanks to the pairing of the entry-level trim on both models, called Motion, with a hybrid powertrain already known as 180 HEV. Even so, and as we will see a little further on, despite being the entry-level trim, both receive equipment that, together with their price, makes them interesting vehicles to consider if you want to obtain the ECO label from the DGT.

This self-charging hybrid 180 HEV powertrain consists of a four-cylinder petrol engine with 1,800 cc of naturally aspirated displacement delivering 110 CV, combined with a main electric motor of 36 kW (50 CV) and a secondary electric motor of 15 kW (20 CV), all to achieve a combined system output of 160 CV. This system works together with an LFP battery with 1.4 kWh of capacity, plus an intelligent multimode automatic transmission.
Thanks to this powertrain, the Mitsubishi ASX and Grandis can handle up to 80% of urban driving in fully electric mode, which makes them ideal if your main driving is in a city, since the intelligent brake management achieves high levels of kinetic energy recovery during braking and deceleration phases. Obviously, we must not forget that they are fully suited to leaving the city and driving both on the outskirts and on longer journeys.

As I was saying, this powertrain is paired with the Motion trim, which includes equipment such as the following:
- Full-LED front headlights
- Heated, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors
- Automatic air conditioning
- 7-inch digital instrument cluster
- 10.4-inch infotainment system
- Rear view camera
- Rear parking sensors
- KOS keyless entry and engine start system
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
- Light sensor
- Rain sensor
- Automatic high-beam activation system
- Cruise control with speed limiter
- Front collision mitigation system with pedestrian detection
- Traffic sign recognition system
- Lane departure warning system
- Lane keeping assist system
The Mitsubishi ASX 180 HEV Motion and the Grandis 180 HEV Motion are already available in Spain, with prices starting from 26,600 euros and 29,400 euros respectively, both including a dealer discount and an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty, including the traction battery.
