The Ferrari Amalfi Spider will arrive in spring to take advantage of the good weather

Ferrari wants Amalfi users to be able to enjoy a more appealing version of the coupé, launching a convertible variant this spring.

Very good weather is expected this spring, so it will be the moment to make the most of convertible cars and let the wind accompany us on our journeys. That is why Ferrari has chosen this time to launch the Amalfi Spider, the convertible version of the coupé, which aims to go beyond being a mere adaptation of the model it is based on.

The fabric roof folds away at the rear, into a redesigned tailgate built to house the mechanism without altering the car’s looks. The rear lights have also been kept unchanged. At the front, the shapes and volumes of the coupé have been retained as well, with the long bonnet and the shark-nose front end as standout features.

A soft-top roof was chosen to preserve the interior’s livability, which features a 2 + 2 seating layout. This choice also delivers a classic, refined look, as well as a low centre of gravity.

There are no changes to the engine in the convertible either. It keeps the same unit enjoyed by the coupé: a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 631 CV and a maximum torque of 561 Nm. The coupé version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 318 km/h. The figures for this version will be very similar, maintaining the characteristics of the other or, at least, very close to them.

It will also share the electronic braking system, which provides a more precise and modulable response. The adaptive rear spoiler optimises aerodynamic downforce at high speeds and improves stability. The Side Slip Control 6.1 allows better driving dynamics even in limit situations. The suspension has also been improved and balances ride comfort with sportiness.

Converting the coupé into a convertible is a design challenge. The model’s structure has been reinforced to adapt it to this configuration without compromising torsional rigidity or its dynamic behaviour. The rear tailgate design and the weight distribution are essential to guarantee precise and agile driving. At the rear there are two seats that are smaller than the front ones. These allow two extra passengers to travel and, although they are not very comfortable, they serve for short trips.

It will arrive in spring and its price is expected to exceed the 283,000 euros that the coupé version costs. This version is expected to attract new buyers looking for the driving experience of Ferrari with an extra: the option of a retractable hard top that gives a different sensation.
