Enthusiasts of the most powerful car in the world have reason to celebrate: the BMW M3 Touring will be presented, as a concept, in September of this year!

The sports division of BMW, BMW M, was founded in 1972 and, now, at its 48 years, it seems it is going to make one of its enthusiasts’ dreams come true: building a BMW M3 Touring.

This is not the first time it has done so, since when the Bavarian brand launched the third generation (E46) of its 3 Series, it dared to create, as a single unit, a BMW M3 E46 Touring. This model has become an object of desire for enthusiasts of the most powerful car in the world.

The First Bmw M3 Tou

In response to the rumours of recent days, the Bavarian brand has confirmed that it is working on the long-awaited BMW M3 Touring. It will be presented to the public, as a concept, alongside its siblings the BMW M4 Coupé and the BMW M3 Berlina next September of this year. The sports division has also confirmed that it can be seen near the development centre in Garching, close to Munich, and later on the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit.

This is the first time the BMW 3 Series has had this variant, not counting the BMW M3 E46 concept that filled with hope the hearts of the most adventurous drivers. The brand itself has assured that “the BMW M3 Touring meets the hopes of all those who wish to combine the performance of an M with the practicality of a Touring.” “The first BMW M3 Touring is still in the early stage of its development process, which will take approximately two years. As with other sports cars, the intense testing and tuning process of the BMW M3 Touring will take place on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, since the first BMW M3 Touring is, after all, first and foremost a BMW M3.”

We are sure that news of the launch of a BMW M3 Touring will delight the hearts of all those who think only in three colours: sky blue, navy blue and red.

The future BMW M3 Touring could reach the market from 2023, although it will be presented next September. It is not a reckless decision, and brands such as Audi or Mercedes-Benz already include in their ranges performance-enhanced models in estate form, such as the Audi RS4 Avant or the Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate.

BMW M3 Touring: will it revolutionise the hearts of family men?

Is the Bavarian brand considering expanding its range of M models? Everything points to the answer being yes. Following the rumours, the brand has wanted to confirm that it is working on this new member of the M family.

The model would presumably follow in the footsteps of the new BMW M3 and BMW M4. As a result, the Touring version will likely have a large grille, sportier bumpers and a four-exit exhaust system.

The new BMW M3 and BMW M4 will also be unveiled in September and will be equipped with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine from the BMW X3 M and BMW X4 M. In its basic form, it will produce 480 CV and 598 Nm of torque. Customers will also be able to opt for a Competition variant with 510 CV and the same amount of torque as the base model. The standard model will be offered with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the Competition variant will have an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The new M3 will be built on the CLAR platform of the BMW, which means it should be lighter and more agile than the F80 generation model. “We are aware that there is a large base of M car enthusiasts around the world, and we will do everything we can to excite them and everything we can not to disappoint them,” said Carsten Piers, head of the BMW M division, in an interview.

It is important to highlight that this new model will launch the sixth generation of this legendary model. It will be called G80 and will bring some quite major changes. The BMW M3 G80 promises to be the most complete BMW M3 in history, which means that once the driver takes their place behind the wheel, they will probably forget about any potential issues they might have with their driving style.
