The new Audi A7 Sportback reveals its silhouette ahead of its imminent presentation

In just a couple of days we will see what the new Audi A7 Sportback will look like, at an exclusive event ahead of its presentation at the Los Angeles Motor Show

El nuevo Audi A7 Sportback desvela su silueta antes de su inminente presentación

Since 2010 the Audi A7 has been with us, with hardly any changes, so after seven years on the market a small facelift does it no harm. In this way, Audi is already working on what will be the second generation of the A7 Sportback, and it is previewing it in the form of a teaser so that we can glimpse its sleek silhouette.

As you can make out in the image, its smooth lines hint at its characteristic coupé-style bodywork, although luckily we won’t have to wait long to see it in the flesh, since its official debut will take place this very Thursday at an exclusive event. At this event, held ahead of a more global presentation at a motor show, we will learn, in addition to its look, details on the technology and mechanics.

For now we can tell you that it will come with extensive new features in several areas, including its architecture. The new Audi A7 Sportback will adopt the latest version of its platform, called MLB Evo, a platform already found in several Audi models, such as its siblings the SUVs, including the new Audi Q7 that we recently tested for all of you.

Stylistically the new Audi A7 Sportback will have more streamlined lines, but basically we will see an A7 with an image closer to the latest presentations from the Ingolstadt company, although its design will be heavily influenced by the Audi Prologue Concept. The latter is a spectacular and beautiful prototype we saw in 2014 at the Los Angeles Motor Show, with a design and technology level taken to the highest expression.

Mechanically it is expected to keep the range of diesel and petrol engines in four- and six-cylinder versions, with manual and automatic gearboxes, plus a plug-in hybrid variant that would be positioned as the most eco-friendly option, although we will have to wait and see whether it is available from launch.

A market launch that, incidentally, will not happen until 2018, after its global debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show, which opens its doors from 1 to 10 December.
