The new Ford Transit Custom arrives, a new generation for the year 2023
The American brand has presented the new version of the Ford Transit Custom, with different types of engines, sizes and configurations for everyone.

Ford has just unveiled the new generation of the Ford Transit Custom. This van has already been presented in its electric version, but now the time has come to get to know the variants with diesel and plug-in hybrid engines. This means it will be on the market with EcoBlue, electric and plug-in hybrid versions, so that every user can have the model they prefer. Added to this, of course, is a wide range of trim levels and lengths.
This new generation of the light commercial vehicle is based on the platform it shares with the future Volkswagen Transporter. To shape the new Ford Transit Custom, work has been done on the different trim levels. These are Base, Trend, Limited, Active, Trail and Sport. Each one has its own characteristics and suits a specific set of needs, although all of them are ready to deliver the best service.

A modernised look
To give a more modern and attractive image, Ford has changed the shape of the grille. It now has different horizontal slats and larger openings to improve engine cooling. The ICE engine models have larger air intakes. The look is practically the same as the electric version, so there are few surprises in this respect.
In terms of configurations, double-cab variants are expected; the standard version, with the partition between the cabin and the cargo area; the kombi, and the version with an “L”-shaped partition. It can also be found in two lengths and two heights.

A more equipped interior
Inside, the driver is greeted by a 13-inch multimedia screen. This consists of the SYNC4 information and entertainment system. It has not been stated whether this setup is available across the entire range or whether it is an optional extra for the top-of-the-range model.
The steering wheel can be folded, turning it into a practical and comfortable work table for office tasks. In addition, all versions are equipped with the Ford Pro software platform, which helps manage maintenance and optimise the vehicle’s uptime.
Engines
The EcoBlue diesel engine fitted to the ICE version will offer several power outputs. These start at 109 CV and continue with 134 and 148, reaching 168 CV. It is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic gearbox, with optional all-wheel drive.
The towing capacity of the version with automatic AWD traction is 2,500 kg, so it is quite attractive in that respect too.
The plug-in hybrid version is equipped with a 2.5-litre petrol engine, combined with an electric motor. The power output of this model has not been announced, but it is expected to match the figures offered by the Ford Kuga PHEV, which reaches 122 CV and uses a similar hybrid engine.
The battery has a capacity of 11.5 kWh and can deliver a range of up to 57 kilometres. In addition, it can be used to power electric tools via the ProPower Onboard system. The electric Transit Custom has a motor that delivers 160 kW, equivalent to 214 CV. The battery in this case offers 74 kWh and allows a range of 380 kilometres.
