Golf Golf Variant Volkswagen Family
The new Golf range expands with the Variant and Alltrack versions
The Golf 8 officially presents its estate versions, the Variant and Alltrack, already available in Germany and which will soon arrive in Spain

The new Volkswagen Golf 8 continues to expand its line-up after its market launch, just in time to close out 2019, gradually adding to and completing the catalogue with the different variants we have grown accustomed to. Now it is the turn of the more family-oriented versions of the Golf, represented by the Golf Variant and the Golf Alltrack, the latter combining a sporty look with greater capability on rough terrain.
The Volkswagen Golf Variant is already an integral part of the German compact’s range, having earned its place in the catalogue after selling more than three million units since 1993, the year it went on sale. For this new generation the Golf Variant measures 4,633 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,686 mm, which translates into 66 mm more than its predecessor. Its design is supported by a particularly flat roofline at the rear, with a visibly sloping rear window and a newly designed bumper and tailgate specific to this estate version. It is worth noting that, as standard, both the front and rear light clusters are LED.

Thanks to the increased dimensions of the new Volkswagen Golf Variant, five occupants can now travel in greater comfort inside, especially in the rear, as both legroom and interior length have been increased by 48 mm, the latter reaching 1,789 mm. This has also allowed the boot capacity to increase by 6 litres to 611 litres, although the increase will be more noticeable if the seats are folded down and the boot is fully loaded, providing 22 litres more, specifically 1,642 litres of capacity. The boot opening will be manual as standard, although hands-free electric opening can be fitted as an option.
As with the compact version of the Golf 8, the new Volkswagen Golf Variant 8 will be available in the Basic, Life, Style and R-Line trim levels, with the same standard equipment and the long list of optional extras it offers. The same applies to its engines, as it can be chosen with any of the available TSI engines (1.0 TSI with 110 CV, also available as a mild-hybrid, and 1.5 TSI with 130 CV and 150 CV, the latter also available as a mild-hybrid), as well as the 1.5 TDI diesel engine with 150 CV. These are the ones available for now, but CNG and plug-in hybrid versions will be added later.
Volkswagen Golf Alltrack 8

The Alltrack variant enters its second generation to accompany the new Volkswagen Golf 8, a version that takes the Golf Variant as its reference while adopting a styling closer to that of an SUV. To achieve this it includes bumpers specific to this version, greater ground clearance, wheel arches and side sills with black protective trim and, as standard, permanent four-wheel drive 4MOTION. In all other respects it keeps the same equipment as the Golf Variant version.
For the time being we do not know its prices for the Spanish market, as the arrival of both has not yet been announced, but we will not be long in seeing them on our roads and learning their prices, since commercialisation has already begun in Germany and the rest of the European markets will follow.
