The new SEAT León camouflages itself in honour of its hometown, Barcelona
SEAT has wanted to pay tribute to Barcelona through the new León, a model that has been wrapped in camouflage inspired by Park Güell.

The world is buzzing and cheering the arrival of one of the most anticipated vehicles of this year 2020: the new SEAT León. The homegrown brand showed us just a few weeks ago the rear of the new generation of its favourite son with the aim of previewing part of its new design language. However, SEAT has wanted to go further by offering us a video in which we can not only see how the Spanish compact camouflages itself in tribute to its hometown, Barcelona, but also some features of its styling that are very revealing.
And we must not forget that the Catalan capital stands out not only for its gastronomy or for being home to one of the most significant car companies in Spain, but also for its architecture. Geniuses such as Gaudí left their art imprinted on Barcelona through emblematic places such as Park Güell, whose aesthetic has inspired the design of the new León’s vinyl wrap.
Built between 1900 and 1914 by Antoni Gaudí under the orders of Eusebi Güell, an important Catalan businessman, it managed to capture a sense of nature that was unusual in the architecture of the time. Now, SEAT has wanted to celebrate the nature present in this latest generation of the León through its camouflage, a clear nod to the majesty of Park Güell.

In total, 20 square metres of cast vinyl were needed to conceal the shape of the fourth generation of the Spanish compact. To achieve this, 45 degrees of heat had to be applied, the temperature at which this vinyl adheres to the León’s body panels, a model that for the first time dispenses with the characteristic camouflage and opts for the light and colours characteristic of its city.
However, despite SEAT’s clear attempts to disguise the design of the new León, we can make out certain details. The rear, as we had already been shown, is governed by a new light signature that runs across the tailgate from end to end. The bumper, besides presenting sharper, crisper lines, also appears to be flanked by what looks like a true dual exhaust outlet, a feature well worth noting given current trends.

Although they have been more cautious with the front end, we can make out a much more angular and aggressive design, features already hinted at by the front headlights. However, it will be on 28 January when we learn all the details of the new SEAT León, a model that will be a world premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
