The new Toyota Corolla is here

The new generation of the best-selling model in automotive history is here. We’re talking about the Toyota Corolla in its 47th year of production, which debuts a new generation (and we’re already up to the 11th).
Nearly 40 million units attest to the health of this model, which never stops being produced and renewed to stay in the spotlight. In this case, it is a complete overhaul affecting every element of the car, from the chassis to the bodywork, including new powertrains.
The exterior design of the 2014 Corolla has been completely renewed, with a brand-new front end that now features sharper headlights, along with a more aggressive and muscular bumper.
The side profile of the Toyota has also been modified, with a glasshouse that tapers into a wedge shape, recalling the new Lexus IS. The rear has also been changed, although it is probably the part that has varied least from the previous generation, limited to new light clusters and a redesigned bumper.

The interior borrows most of the components we already know from the current-generation Auris, so we find a dashboard with sharp shapes that integrates the sound system and climate control, leaving behind the floating console so characteristic of the previous generation. The construction materials have taken a step forward and enjoy a fairly high level of finish. The instrument cluster follows the guidelines of the new Yaris and RAV4, with large, clear dials combined with a multifunction digital display.
Offered with two possible engine options, the Corolla will also come in four different trim levels, L, LE, S, and Eco LE.
The Corolla’s two powertrains will both be 1.8-liter four-cylinder units which, thanks to slight variations in compression and electronic management, will deliver 132 and 140 CV. They can be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable automatic (CVT).
