The time for change has come for the Toyota Land Cruiser, which is set to welcome 2016 with a new version, improving on its current equipment. The look of this Japanese SUV has not changed, although the interior does hold a few surprises. Lifting the bonnet also reveals changes, and the cabin has new features that will appeal to future buyers of the model.

Let’s begin by reviewing the engine changes, as it includes the 2.8 D-4D powerplant, which delivers a maximum output of 177 CV and a maximum torque that surpasses the engine it replaces, while reducing consumption and emissions. The engine is certified to the Euro 6 standard and is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic gearbox 6 Super ECT. In addition, the engineers at Toyota have made changes to the suspension to improve the car’s stability, which also gains in comfort when driving.

Inside, it features a new two-tone upholstery, brown and black. Furthermore, both the centre console and other areas of the cabin have aluminium details that enhance the interior’s look. A 4.2-inch TFT screen controls the Toyota Touch 2 & GO Plus infotainment system and the Optitron instrument cluster.

This new Toyota Land Cruiser is available in five different trim levels, one of which, the NX, can be registered as an off-road van, while the GX trim is designed for fleet customers. Private buyers can choose the VX, VXL and LIMITED trims. The latter offer more complete equipment, both as standard and optional.

Buyers will also be able to choose from three equipment packs: ‘Third-row seat pack‘, ‘KIRARI pack‘ and ‘KIRARI Plus pack‘. The first is aimed at the five-door body and allows a third row of folding seats and automatic air conditioning to be fitted.

The second pack is aimed at the three-door body and includes leather upholstery, heated front seats and the Toyota Touch 2 & GO Plus system. The third pack is also for five-door Land Cruisers, which, in addition to the above, includes LED daytime running lights and headlight washers.

The range also includes the new Ruby Red colour and a series of driver-assistance equipment that increases safety and comfort while driving. This new version of the Toyota Land Cruiser is already available at dealerships, so if you are interested, you can see it at any of them.
