The new Volkswagen Polo arrives with an innovative digitised dashboard
The small city car arrives at the brand’s dealerships to set itself apart from its predecessor, and it features several improvements that give it a better look

The sixth generation of the Volkswagen Polo has already reached the market, at least in pre-order form, and it aims to become a small compact that wins over prospective buyers. This car targets young people looking for a small, manageable, economical car backed by all the assurances that come from having sold 16.5 million units over its lifetime. To that end, it arrives with新 features that will appeal to millennials and to anyone who simply wants to enjoy good equipment in a small city car.
The Volkswagen Polo uses the MQB platform, which is very popular across the German brand’s models. This gives it many of the features that also equip other models in the Volkswagen Group. It has also allowed it to adopt a new design, intended to make it slightly longer and wider, with more headroom.

Inside, the designers opted for a current and modern design. It can also be fitted with the new Volkswagen Digital Cockpit. On the same visual axis, but more centred on the dashboard, sits the infotainment system screen, which, depending on the version, can reach a size of 8 inches and features a glazed surface. The Advance and Sport versions fit App-Connect, which provides an interface for smartphones, apps and the online services of mobile phones and tablets.
The car’s larger size means there is more room for five occupants, and the boot has grown from 280 litres to 351 litres. In addition, it will feature driver assistance systems such as the Front Assist monitoring system with city emergency braking and pedestrian detection.

As for engines, the new Volkswagen Polo will offer eight powertrains, although initially it can only be ordered with three petrol engines: two 1.0 MPI units with 65 CV and 75 CV, and a turbocharged 1.0-litre TSI with 95 CV. All three have a Stop&Start system, and from the 95 CV version onwards they can be fitted with a DSG automatic gearbox. More engines will arrive over the coming months to complete the range.
The remaining five engines will arrive before the end of the year: two petrol, two diesel and one adapted to run on natural gas. On the petrol side, buyers will be able to choose a 1.0 TSI unit with 115 CV and the most powerful petrol engine, a 2.0 TSI with 200 CV in the Polo GTI. The two diesel engines will be 1.6 TDI units, one with 80 CV and the other with 95 CV. Additionally, for the first time an engine adapted for natural gas is included: the 1.0 TGI, which offers 95 CV.
The entry price of this new Polo starts at 14,740 euros, in the 1.0 Edition with 65 CV, and it can already be reserved at the brand’s dealerships.
