The Opel Astra kicks off 2026 with a refreshed look and a higher-quality interior
The Brussels Motor Show will be the first event of the year next month, and Opel will be there with new releases such as the Astra, with a new design

Looking back, 2025 was a busy year for Opel in terms of new releases, with the arrival of new models such as the Frontera and the updates to others such as the Mokka and the Grandland. 2026 looks set to start the same way for the German brand, with January 9 marked in red as it is the opening day of the new edition of the Brussels Motor Show, where, of course, Opel will be present.
There, Opel will unveil the facelift given to one of the illustrious models in its line-up, the Astra, both in its hatchback body version and in the estate version called Sports Tourer. With the conceptual differences between each, the new Opel Astra presents a more up-to-date exterior look in line with the brand’s latest developments, along with an interior that aims to be more comfortable and of higher quality, not forgetting the fully electric version, which also receives specific updates.
Exterior design

The new Opel Astra now gets a revised front end inspired by the one we saw on the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, characterised by the “Opel Vizor”, now with a narrower design together with the Opel logo permanently illuminated, a solution the latter taken from the Grandland, which also serves as the starting point for light strips that extend horizontally towards the headlights and vertically towards the fold in the bonnet.

Speaking of lights, the new Opel Astra features Intelli-Lux HD headlights, which we also saw at the time on the new Grandland. These are adaptive anti-glare headlights with more than 50,000 elements and are able to isolate other drivers more quickly and effectively than previous matrix headlights. Moreover, in adverse conditions such as rain and even fog, they react as quickly as possible to avoid dazzling by adjusting the intensity of the light beam.
Finally, the new Opel Astra and Astra Sports Tourer will have new wheel designs in 17 and 18-inch sizes, along with the new metallic paints Kontur White and Klover Green, created to match perfectly with the black-painted roof.
Comfortable, refined interior

As for the interior, the new Opel Astra comes as standard, even in the most basic version, with Intelli-Seats, inspired by road bicycle saddles and featuring a central cut-out that reduces pressure on the coccyx for long journeys in complete comfort. As if that were not enough, the front seats with AGR certification can also be optionally specified, including heating, electro-pneumatic lumbar support, massage and memory function.
Opel has also taken the opportunity to make the Astra a more sustainable vehicle by using a greater number of recycled materials and surfaces, including, among others, 100% recycled seat covers or the ReNewKnit upholstery of the AGR seats, a monomaterial with the high-quality look of suede, 100% recycled and recyclable. Finally, Opel has also used the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen to offer a clearer and more intuitive interface.
Greater range for the Astra Electric

The Opel Astra and Astra Sports Tourer can be chosen with a variety of engines depending on your needs, but as far as the fully electric version is concerned, it now comes with a 58 kWh battery compared with the 54 kWh previously fitted, which now allows it to increase its WLTP range to 454 kilometres (34 kilometres more than the outgoing model). Finally, it also offers V2L technology, which lets us use the battery’s energy to charge other electrical devices.
