Electric vehicles from BMW can now access Tesla Superchargers in North America
BMW joins a long list of manufacturers that have already added Tesla’s charging infrastructure in North America to the charging service they offer their customers.
Owners of electric vehicles from the Bavarian brand residing in the United States now have access to around 25,000 additional fast-charging points to complete their journeys across the country. More than two thousand Tesla stations are already accessible using a simple CCS-to-NACS adapter, and in the near future the brand’s vehicles will integrate this new charging standard as standard equipment in order to simplify the charging process.
Charging at a Tesla Supercharger with an electric vehicle from BMW couldn’t be simpler. Apart from having to use an adapter with current models, the rest of the process is already fully automated. Payment for the kWh consumed is made in an integrated way through the My BMW app, and there is no need to download additional applications.

With the integration of the extensive Tesla infrastructure into the BMW charging service, the Bavarian manufacturer currently offers nearly 180,000 public charging points in North America, which also include those of other operators such as Electrify America, ChargePoint, EVgo or IONNA. All compatible stations appear both in the vehicle’s navigation system and in the My BMW app for mobile devices, and at many of them charging starts automatically using the Plug&Charge function as soon as the cable is connected to the vehicle’s charging port.
Plug and go
As already mentioned, the current BMW models on sale in this market -i4, i5, i7 and iX- need an adapter, since Tesla Superchargers use the NACS standard and all these vehicles are fitted with a CCS charging connector. BMW will begin selling official adapters as an accessory starting in the second quarter of 2026, but it is already possible to use any third-party adapter. It should also be noted that the Plug&Charge function already works at Tesla Superchargers with BMW vehicles that support this technology.

As for the price paid per kWh consumed when charging at a Tesla Supercharger, it is the same as that applied to any other vehicle that is not a Tesla brand vehicle and is billed directly through the Shell Recharge account linked in the My BMW app. You only need to activate the Plug&Charge function in the vehicle’s charging settings and have the corresponding charging contracts active.
