Corsa Opel Electric Cars Compact
The Opel Corsa 100% electric is about to arrive and will be manufactured at the Zaragoza plant
Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Opel, has confirmed the production of a 100% electric Corsa. We will see this model in the year 2020, alongside three others.

Electric vehicles are mercilessly battering all car brands, which have succumbed to this type of powertrain. This should come as no surprise, since electrification benefits not only the economy of its users, but also the environment and the well-being of our planet. Without a doubt, this thought is on the minds of the engineers at Opel, who have confirmed that they will develop a 100% electric Corsa and that it will be built on national soil, specifically in Zaragoza.
It was in 1982 that the Spanish plant began producing the Corsa. Since then, more than thirteen million vehicles have rolled out of the factory located in Zaragoza, and Opel has no intention of letting that success decline now. This is reflected in the plan to bring a new generation of the Corsa next year, which would be characterized by being a true technological revolution.
The CEO of Opel, Michael Lohscheller, has confirmed the brand’s intention to offer a range of products far more committed to reducing pollution. They will achieve this by introducing several models that rely on both hybrid and electric propulsion, which will specifically affect four Opel vehicles. Little by little, 100% electric cars will become standard, and there will be an example of them in every single brand on the market.

It is in the year 2020 that the German brand plans to incorporate an electric version of the Corsa, which will make the Zaragoza plant the first Opel factory in Europe to produce an electric vehicle. As we have mentioned, this will not be exclusive to the German compact, since we will see other models -still unknown- adopt this technology. It will most likely be applied to vehicles designed for city driving, and once the hurdle of enjoying a long range is resolved, this will be extended to other Opel products.
“This is a decisive step forward for the Zaragoza plant and marks the start of a new era,” explained Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller. “The new framework social agreement reached with the unions at the end of January was an essential requirement to guarantee the necessary investments, and it has made it possible to substantially increase the plant’s competitiveness, thus facilitating other future investments at the factory.”

Little by little we will find an electric version of practically every model on the market, which is beneficial when it comes to urban travel. Without a doubt, this new technology will advance into other areas, but for now we can enjoy a 100% electric Opel Corsa within a two-year period.
