The Opel Insignia GSi is shown in photos ahead of its presentation in September
The unveiling of the new performance version of the Opel Insignia will take place during the Frankfurt Motor Show, but to get us ready, they have published photos

The new Opel Insignia GSi is here and aims to carve out a place among enthusiasts of sports saloons. To do so, it offers a very enjoyable and dynamic driving experience. This has been achieved by working on various elements of the model, giving it more attractive and sporty performance, with a weight reduction and a chassis developed at the Nürburgring that allows it to deliver performance more in keeping with its sporting spirit.
The car weighs 160 kg less than the Opel Insignia OPC 2.8 V6 Turbo, a comparable model. We can speak of a good power-to-weight ratio, excellent balance and a low centre of gravity that helps maintain control when cornering at high speed. At the front there are large air intakes, and at the rear there is a spoiler that reduces aerodynamic lift, which also helps give it a sporty and dynamic look.

The model’s all-wheel drive is paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, operated via the paddle shifters on the steering wheel, which makes control more direct and efficient. As for the dampers, they lower the car’s ride height by 10 millimetres, and the sport dampers prevent it from moving more than necessary. The four-piston Brembo brakes and 345 mm discs, and the steering, have been tuned accordingly to allow greater control.
The mechatronic FlexRide chassis can adapt the behaviour of the steering and dampers in a very short time, and also change the gear-shift points thanks to the selector that chooses between “Standard“, “Tour” and “Sport” modes, to which the “Competition” mode is added in this GSi version.
The engine powering this version of the Opel Insignia is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo unit producing 260 CV and a maximum torque of 400 Nm, with an average consumption of 8.6 litres. CO2 emissions are set at 197 g/km, quite impressive for the engine and its power output.
As an added detail, this model also features the new Opel sports seats, designed to offer greater support as well as more comfort on longer journeys. They are ergonomically more efficient, support the back, and offer ventilation, heating, massage and adjustable side bolsters. They will be on show at the Frankfurt Motor Show next September and will reach Spanish dealerships during November.
