The Opel Zafira Life begins its sales launch in Spain, and these are its prices
The new Opel Zafira Life begins its sales launch in Spain, standing out for its great versatility, its range of sizes and its wide equipment possibilities

The proliferation of SUV models in brands’ lineups has meant that other segments have lost ground, or have simply disappeared, a feeling that grows stronger when we look, for example, at how few MPV models remain on the market. Opel is a brand that, now under the umbrella of the PSA Group, still believes in the viability of these models, reviving the name Zafira for its new compact MPV, the Zafira Life.
Under the Zafira Life name, the new compact MPV from Opel presents numerous differences when we look back and compare it with previous generations, especially in its size, something necessary today if these vehicles want to compete with the large SUVs on the market. Still, this is partly also due to the new design philosophy of Opel vehicles, since the Zafira Life shares its platform with the Citroën SpaceTourer and Peugeot Traveller, as well as the Toyota Proace, the latter born from the agreement between the PSA Group and Toyota.

One of the great strengths of the new Opel Zafira Life is its ability to adapt its size to any need or family, as it will be available in three different sizes: “S” at 4.6 metres long, “M” at 4.95 metres long, and “L” which reaches 5.3 metres, almost the same length as the Vivaro Combi it replaces. In all three lengths up to 9 seats can be fitted, in addition to outstanding capacity that translates into 690 litres of boot space, 1,500 litres without the third-row seats, and 3,600 litres without the rear seats in the “S” size, a capacity that rises to 4,900 litres in the “L” size.
The Opel Zafira Life will be available in the Business, Selective, Innovation and Business Innovation trim levels, which will logically vary in terms of equipment and finishes. In this regard we will find systems and aids as in any conventional car, such as Pedestrian Detection, Head-Up Display, Forward Collision Warning, Rear View Camera, Emergency Braking, Parking Sensors, or Automatic High Beam, among others. Even in the long-wheelbase versions we can fit leather upholstery Lounge as well as heated and massage seats or, in the Business trim, install swivelling leather seats so that passengers sit facing each other as if in a meeting room.

On the mechanical side, from the start of its sales the Opel Zafira Life will offer diesel engines, with the entry-level powertrain being a 1.5 turbo with 120 CV and a 6-speed manual gearbox, followed by a 2.0 turbo engine that can deliver 150 CV with the same 6-speed manual gearbox or, alternatively, 177 CV paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission; all of them with front-wheel drive and IntelliGrip traction control. A 4×4 version developed by Dangel will follow later and, in 2021, the Zafira Life will get its electric version.

Additionally, as a curiosity, the engineers at Opel created a concept inspired by the GMC Vandura used by the legendary A-Team in the television series, which they named the O-Team Zafira Life and presented at the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena festival with modifications approved by Germany’s TÜV. This concept, apart from the aesthetic changes, uses the 177 CV 2.0 engine but, from the outside, you will hear the growl of a V8 thanks to a sound module and an exhaust pipe with OPC-style design, and they also installed a powerful 800-watt sound system inside to be the king of the parties.
The new Opel Zafira Life can already be ordered at the brand’s dealerships, while the first deliveries to its future owners will begin in October. The starting price of the Zafira Life in “S” size with Business trim and the 1.5-litre 120 CV engine is set at 36,900 euros.
