The option of a Porsche Cayman GT4 RS with 500 CV is closer than ever

Since the Porsche Cayman GT4 was unveiled, the media have speculated about the launch of an even more powerful and radical RS version. This variant has not yet reached the market; however, an Australian official dealership has shown signs that it could be on its way.

The establishment in question is the Porsche Center Brisbane, located, as its name suggests, in Australia’s third-largest city: Brisbane. The dealership posted the following on its Instagram account (which it has since deleted, by the way): “Due to high demand, a Porsche GT4 RS is on its way – with more power and a 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine. This limited edition will turn heads wherever it goes.”

It would fit a naturally aspirated 4-litre six-cylinder engine producing 500 CV of power. The description of the Cayman GT4 RS provided by the Australian dealership appears to match perfectly that of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, at least as far as its engine is concerned: a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated engine with six horizontally opposed cylinders.

The possibility that the future Cayman GT4 RS could fit the same powerplant as the 911 GT3 RS is not new; it had already been rumoured. If forecasts hold, the new Cayman GT4 RS would offer the same 500 CV of power as the Carrera GT3 RS, a considerable increase over the 385 CV offered by the current standard GT4. For its part, the next 911 GT3 RS will replace its current engine with a 4.2-litre unit. We do not know whether this will be true, following the recent announcement by Porsche that it will eliminate naturally aspirated enginesporsche-cayman-gt4-rs-hm-1.

Following the announcement made by the Porsche Center Brisbane, several representatives of Porsche Cars Australia denied that the Cayman GT4 RS is a reality today, although they did admit that they hope it will appear in the coming months. If this information is accurate, there is a possibility that the most radical version of the Porsche Cayman could debut next March at the Geneva Motor Show. Dreaming is free§h25§.
