The Porsche 911 Targa already has an arrival date: it will make its debut on May 18
Porsche has just announced the arrival of the new 911 Targa, a variant that will be unveiled tomorrow, 18 May, to help complete the 911 range.

The arrival of the new 911 has been a moment of intrigue for fans of the model, who, with every generation, hope that its essence remains intact. Over the years, the German marque has shown that technological and mechanical evolution does not mean dismantling what makes a car unique and special, and the 911 is irrefutable proof of this. This is also possible thanks to Porsche’s loyalty to all the versions of its favourite child, which remain intact in each and every one of its releases.
For now, the current 992 is represented by the Carrera, Carrera S, Turbo and Turbo S variants. Undoubtedly this is a very encouraging range of options, but we all know that Porsche still has several aces up its sleeve that will serve to complete the nine-eleven range, which is about to grow thanks to the Targa version of this model.
Porsche is being very subtle about revealing information on the 992’s versions, a generation for which even a hybrid option is expected. However, it was through a video that they unveiled the arrival of the new Targa, one of the most charismatic variants of the illustrious 911 and one that will cause a stir as it has in previous generations.

The shadow in which the new 911 Targa is shrouded prevents us from seeing its full appearance in great detail but, given that we already know its roof-hiding mechanism and the look of the 992, we can predict various details. Both the front and rear will remain unchanged compared with the conventional 911 Carrera S and 4S, but the biggest difference lies in its roof, whose rear section is entirely glass.
Mechanically, we can expect this variant to be paired with the Carrera S, Carrera 4S and GTS when Porsche reveals it. If so, we would be talking about a turbocharged six-cylinder boxer engine capable of producing 450 CV and 530 Nm of torque, figures that will be distributed to all four wheels or only the rear axle.

Tomorrow the German marque will unveil the new 911 Targa exclusively, a version with a charisma and personality that stands out among the other members of the 911 family. In this way, we will be a little closer to seeing the full German sports car range, which could welcome the much-anticipated GT3 as the next step.
