Porsche Taycan Electric Cars Supercars
The Porsche Mission E is going into production, and from now on it will be called Porsche Taycan.
Before moving onto the production line, the Porsche Mission E has changed its name, and we will now know it as Porsche Taycan, a name that recalls the crest

The first fully electric Porsche is not a novelty. We have known about it for some time, but we called it the Porsche Mission E. We now know that the production version is on its way, and the Stuttgart brand has wanted to give it another name so that we can identify it better. And the name chosen to market the already familiar Porsche Mission E is Porsche Taycan. And like all the brand’s names, this designation has its explanation.
Taycan refers to the Energetic Young Horse, which would be a rough translation of the word. It refers to the horse with its front legs raised that appears on the brand’s crest and represents the energy delivered by the two synchronous motors with continuous movement fitted to this model. The name in an Asian language is another nod to technology, and it also turns its eyes to the Chinese market, one of the most dynamic in this respect.

The Porsche Taycan has a power output of 440 kW, which translates to just over 600 CV, a considerable output for an electric vehicle, one that can comfortably be measured against a similar car with a combustion engine. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just under 3.5 seconds, and reaching 200 km/h takes a little under 12 seconds. The range on the NEDC cycle slightly exceeds 500 kilometres, and it is set to become one of the most desirable electric cars on the market.
Names that define the cars
The names of Porsche’s models hide much of the character of the cars themselves. For example, the Boxster combines the concept of the boxer engine with the roadster design of the model. The Panamera recalls the Carrera Panamericana with its Gran Turismo design; the Cayman represents the strength and energy of the animal from which it takes its name, and the Cayenne represents ferocity.

Names are important to Porsche, and this year, in which the company celebrates its first 70 years, it has organised several events for its employees, collaborators and potential customers. On 16 June, a Porsche fair will open at the Stuttgart facilities, where visitors can see these models and enjoy concerts, food trucks and many activities for the whole family.
Meanwhile, Porsche wants to keep investing in electromobility and has prepared an investment of 6,000 million euros up to 2022. The additional 3,000 million euros included in this budget is earmarked for variants of the Porsche Taycan, while another 1,000 will go towards the electrification and hybridisation of existing models, and the rest will be devoted to modernising and expanding the factory facilities.
