R1T Rivian Electric Cars Other Sedans Pick-up
The Rivian R1T Camper wants you to camp anywhere with the utmost respect for the environment
The electric vehicle brand that wants to position itself in the market with vehicles designed for off-road use presents a camper version of its R1T model

There are many motor shows that don’t receive the same media attention as the Geneva Motor Show, the Detroit show, or the recent Barcelona Motor Show. They are somewhat smaller shows specializing in other types of vehicles. For example, in the United States the Overland Expo West is being held in Flagstaff, Arizona. This show is dedicated to camper vehicles, and we have already had the chance to see some interesting proposals from that event. But if you are a fan of camping vehicles and also want to do it with the utmost respect for the environment, you are in luck, because Rivian has prepared a camper version of its R1T.
One of the features of the Rivian R1T is an accommodation located right behind the cabin, which can be adapted to carry anything from skis to snowboards. In that space a small slide-out kitchen has been fitted, which can be pulled outside to cook and then stored again without using space in the rear cargo area. This small kitchen has everything needed to prepare a camping meal: fabric drawers for storing cutlery and food, a worktop for preparing the recipe and, of course, an electric hob for cooking everything. This kitchen is powered by the vehicle’s battery pack.

To rest during the countryside getaway, the Rivian R1T comes with a tent that is placed over the cargo area and accessed by a ladder. This is not a final version of the electric pick-up; rather, the company wants to demonstrate the versatility of an electric pick-up that aims to get ahead in sustainable mobility in a market that grows bigger and more interesting by the day.

RIVIAN R1T CAMPER
We already reported recently that Rivian wants to equip its electric pick-ups with 180 kWh battery packs, which will offer a higher range and will be very useful for models like this one, which require more energy since their journeys will be longer and more demanding, and they also need extra energy to run the electric kitchen. For now, it will come with 105 and 135 kWh batteries, which is not bad, but seems insufficient for a trip of more than a couple of days without the chance to recharge. For now it looks interesting, although we will have to see what final plans exist for this camper variant of the Rivian R1T.
