The second-generation Tesla Roadster will have a range of more than 1,000 kilometres

A little over a year and a half ago, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, began to give small hints about the Tesla Roadster second generation, but recently the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has published a comment on the matter on his favourite social network, Twitter.

A user asked him about the range of the new Tesla Roadster, and Musk himself replied that it would have more than 1,000 kilometres.

Specifically, the Twitter user asked him whether the range of the Tesla Roadster “would be 620 miles”, which would be around 998 kilometres. Elon Musk, for his part, stated that “the range will be above 1,000 kilometres”. Of course, it is important to bear in mind that it would be more than 621 miles, but the driver would have to be careful and drive very smoothly, without sudden acceleration or braking.

This kind of range is impressive, as some sources assure, and it is important to note that the performance of the new Tesla Roadster means it can fully enter the supercar segment. The Tesla Roadster will be capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds and reaching 165 km/h in 4.2 real seconds. It will also have a 200 kWh battery.

Furthermore, it will be able to cover the quarter mile in just 8.8 seconds. As for top speed, it could reach 402 kilometres per hour. The Tesla test driver has admitted that the finished model will be even faster, so manufacturers such as Bugatti or Koenigsegg could find themselves under threat. Will Tesla achieve its goal?

An electric sports car that will not be affordable

The Tesla Roadster second generation will not be a cheap vehicle, but anyone who wants to buy one will have to take its future supercar performance into account. From that perspective, this electric sports car could turn out to be a real bargain.

The price of the new Tesla Roadster could start at 180,000 euros. If you want a much more exclusive version, the buyer could opt for the Founder series. This series will be limited to 1,000 units and its price could approach 230,000 euros in the United States.

Some reports speak of a possible price increase on the models of Elon Musk’s company. It is rumoured that the increase will be around 10%. Even so, this new second-generation Tesla Roadster will be far cheaper than the multimillion-dollar machines it will compete with.

For his part, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, already confirmed a few months ago that “we have the new Tesla Roadster in the works, which will become the fastest sports car in the world in every dimension. This encompasses the most powerful acceleration and top speed on the market”.

Although the CEO of the electric car company is very clear that its second-generation model will have no rival, many brands are already working on developing vehicles that will become real competition for the Tesla Roadster. Rimac, Bugatti or Koenigsegg have already begun to draw up their new plans.
