The specifications of the Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series have appeared published on the website of a company that sells experiences at the Nürburgring Circuit

For many years we have been wanting the cherry on top to arrive, the perfect piece of craftsmanship, the track-focused sports car approved for free road use on any public road, the ‘anti-everything’ of AMG, and it seems the presentation of the Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series is getting closer all the time.

Something that is taking its time, just as much as official information about this hardcore variant of the brand-new Mercedes-AMG GT, which has made it possible for rumours and gossip to claim they have reliable data about it.

For now, we only know what we can see in the videos that, one after another, we keep reporting thanks to the spotters who publish their videos and who have captured test units of the Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series on countless occasions.

Once again, Automotive Mike gives a good account of one of these test cars, dressed in the corresponding camouflage.

A livery that does not hide a bumper that includes a huge grille with vertical bars and the star logo discreetly presiding over it, or rather semi-hidden. A front end flanked by side pontoons that channel the airflow towards the wheels.

The bonnet, sectioned by ribs and recesses, indicates that the mechanical work hidden beneath it requires a new engine cover to relieve the temperature of its mechanical heart and to be supported by maximum aerodynamic efficiency.

That is why the monstrous rear wing perched over the minimal space available on the boot lid of this car is familiar from other Rennsport models from compatriot and rival brands.

Likewise, at the rear, the configuration of the Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series calls for a diffuser as the aerodynamic crowning touch of this car, which, seen from the front, shows minimal space between the tyres and the wheel arch, an unmistakable sign of incorporating a suspension that pins this car to the asphalt as if it carried lead ingots on each axle.

Now, once again, unconfirmed rumours emerge about its mechanics, since our colleagues at Carbuzz cite a company that has nothing to do with Mercedes-AMG but a lot to do with the place where this car is being tuned, Fastabast. It already offers the booking of laps on board the Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series.

A car that, according to them, features the 4-litre twin-turbo V8 which, in this variant, delivers up to 720 CV and 870 Nm of torque, allowing it to stop the stopwatch at 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, reach a top speed of 320 km/h, and cover the Nürburgring Circuit in a time below the psychological barrier of 7 minutes (6:58), a time that its sibling, the Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro, could not bring down (7:04.632).

Whatever the case, these speculations only increase our eagerness for its official presentation to arrive already, which we hope will be soon. We still feel a physical and mental shiver when we recall those extreme AMG products of the Black Series line from decades ago.

Extremely extreme machines pushed to the limit to deliver the most of themselves, to be the summum of each of the models they came from. And the Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series will be, with apologies to when the Mercedes-AMG ONE arrives, the definitive Mercedes-AMG.
