The successor to the Fiat Punto arrives in 2023 and brings a surprise
The Italian brand is looking to return to the B-segment and is proposing the comeback of the Fiat Punto, the model that was discontinued in 2018, for 2023

The Italian brand is preparing the return of the Fiat Punto, whose last unit rolled off the production line in 2018. This is not something that catches us by surprise, because it is a model that has been talked about quite a lot and for which plans had been made earlier. But this return will bring surprises, and what joins the brand’s range may not be exactly a Fiat Punto.
The news came out during the company’s presentation of its results for the first half of 2021. It was Carlos Tavares, the company’s CEO, who announced that although it is not confirmed that it will be a new Fiat Tipo, it will indeed be a B-segment car. This had been left out of the company’s plans, and with this model it will once again become important to the company. And this is no trivial matter, because it is the segment that registers the most registrations in Europe.

An interesting city car
The Fiat Punto was born in 1993 and, across its different generations, ran until 2018. With the end of production of this model, a car that rivalled the Citroën C3 or the Skoda Fabia came to an end. The brand’s new B-segment model will be built on the CMP (Common Modular Platform), which is also used in other cars such as the Peugeot 208 and 2008; the Opel Corsa, the Citroën C4 and the DS3 Crossback.
On its return to this segment, Fiat proposes a car with mild hybridisation and a full hybrid. The combustion engine will remain present in this model, at least at first. Everything indicates that an electric version is not ruled out, but this would arrive from 2024, a little after the hybrid version.
