Porsche Taycan Electric Cars Safety Supercars
The Taycan Turbo GT is chosen as the "safety car" for Formula E
Formula E is one of the most prominent competitions for the German manufacturer, which will now be in charge of providing the safety car with the new Taycan Turbo GT

The iconic German car manufacturer has announced that the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT will take on the role of safety car in the incredible competition featuring a series of fully electric single-seater races, Formula E. These two new and powerful vehicles will be tasked with replacing the previous Taycan Turbo S as safety car, once again demonstrating, from Porsche, what electric vehicles are capable of.
For this new role, the Taycan Turbo GT will be presented in two different variants, each with its own set of unique features. One of them, equipped with the exclusive Weissach package and painted in Sky Purple metallic, does without rear seats, highlighting its purely sporty approach. Meanwhile, the second variant, in a striking Shade Green metallic finish, offers four seats and is presented without the Weissach package, providing a more comfort-oriented option.

Formula E, an important role for Porsche
Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, expressed the importance of this step: “Sustainability and electrification are fundamental pillars for Porsche, and this is reflected in our commitment to Formula E and the use of the Taycan Turbo GT as safety car. This move demonstrates our firm commitment to applying in our production vehicles what we learn in competition, bringing technology and track experience directly to the road.”

Power, range and speed
Since its launch in March, the Taycan Turbo GT has established itself as the pinnacle of the Taycan range, delivering exceptional performance in every respect. With its powerful electric motor, this vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.2 seconds, reaching an impressive top speed of 305 km/h. Furthermore, thanks to Attack Mode, inherited from the technology used in the Porsche 99X Electric of Formula E, the Taycan Turbo GT can unleash additional power of up to 163 CV.

Developed with an ecological focus
Like its predecessor, the Taycan Turbo GT has been developed with a focus on sustainability and efficiency. Built at Porsche’s facilities in Weissach with carbon-neutral emissions, this vehicle represents a milestone in the pursuit of more sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility solutions. In addition, the experts at Porsche in Manthey, based at Nürburgring, ensure that the Taycan Turbo GT is perfectly adapted for its new role as safety car in Formula E, installing the necessary safety equipment and carrying out the relevant modifications.

With its participation in Formula E, Porsche reaffirms its position as a leader in electrification and automotive technology. In addition to the official TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team, the partnership with the American team Andretti Formula E underlines Porsche’s commitment to driving innovation and excellence in the world of electric single-seater racing. This venture into Formula E not only provides valuable insight for the future development of series-production electric vehicles, but also demonstrates Porsche’s continued support for initiatives that promote sustainability and innovation in motorsport.
