The three Porsche Panamera plug-in hybrids: power, comfort and versatility
Test driver Fabian Mechtel was in charge of trying out the new plug-in hybrid versions of the Porsche Panamera and experiencing what it is like to drive them.

Porsche has taken the electrification of its models seriously and offers its customers three versions of the Porsche Panamera with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Three models that offer all the efficiency typical of the brand and allow them to stand out among sports car makers. They are the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, the 4S E-Hybrid and the Turbo S E-Hybrid.
These three models also come in three body styles: the Sport Sedan, Sport Turismo and Executive, which is the long-wheelbase version. Visually, there are few differences compared with the combustion-engine model. Details such as the larger front air intakes and the integrated daytime running lights add a sportier, more attractive touch. At the rear, a light bar connecting the taillight clusters provides a recognizable light signature.

Under the Bonnet
The strength and charisma of the new Porsche Panamera plug-in hybrid lie under the bonnet. The electric motor fitted to all three variants is the same across the range. It delivers a power output of 100 kW, equivalent to 136 CV, and draws its energy from a battery that keeps the same physical size as the previous version, but not its capacity.
Where the previous battery had a capacity of 14.1 kWh, the one fitted to these three cars is 17.9 kWh. This capacity allows the Porsche Panamera to run in electric mode for up to 64 kilometres. The motor offers a maximum torque of 400 Nm, delivered directly to all four wheels through a PDK dual-clutch transmission.
Energy management is more efficient in these versions, which allows for a high range. They also feature four driving modes, which help the car manage energy differently depending on the mode selected.

PORSCHE PANAMERA E-HYBRID
Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid
This Sport Sedan is the entry-level version of the range. The hybrid powertrain delivers a total output of 462 CV, combining the 136 CV electric motor with the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine producing 330 CV. Maximum torque is 700 Nm, available from 1,000 rpm.

Porsche Panamera 4S E-Hybrid
This version uses the same combustion engine as the previous variant, but increases output to 440 CV. As a result, combined power rises to 560 CV. This power translates into driving comfort, allowing drivers to enjoy the experience of a more powerful and efficient version.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid
This is the most powerful version of the model. Its 4.0-litre V8 engine delivers a striking experience. In Sport mode it offers not only the driving experience but also an auditory one, as the engine produces a spectacular sound when it reaches the 6,000 rpm line.
