The Toyota Yaris Cross adds the GR Sport trim to its range
The Japanese manufacturer has just debuted the new Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport in its home country, giving its popular compact SUV a more aggressive look

The Toyota Yaris Cross (road test) is one of the most versatile vehicles currently in the product line of the rising sun brand, although unlike some of its siblings, it did not yet have a version that brought out its sportier side, something Toyota has now addressed, but for the moment, only in the Japanese market.
That said, the new Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport not only adds a spicier styling, but also includes several other improvements such as a specific chassis tuning and even additional reinforcements to enhance its dynamics and driving feel.
Details that make the difference
In terms of styling, Toyota has incorporated several new elements, as is tradition in the GR Sport family, to emphasize the sportiness of the Yaris Cross, such as a honeycomb-pattern grille with the GR logo inserted into it, red-painted brake calipers, a sportier rear bumper, and once again the GR logo on the tailgate.

Looking at the compact SUV from the side, you will notice that this GR Sport version has a lowered ride height, since in addition to a suspension that is specifically 10 mm lower, it also features 18-inch alloy wheels that suit the model very well, not to mention the chassis reinforcements that have been added to boast greater torsional rigidity.
As with its exterior, the interior of the new Yaris Cross GR Sport has also received a number of elements that give it a more sporty character, such as the new sport front seats with GR logos on the headrests, a perforated multifunction steering wheel, red topstitching, and aluminum pedals.

Any news in its powertrain range?
As for the mechanical side, the Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport is offered with the hybrid engine producing 116 CV or 120 CV, only with the option of front-wheel drive. However, Toyota has made some modifications to the steering system and the engines to deliver more precise handling.
