ID.2 Volkswagen Electric Cars SUV
The Volkswagen ID.2 X will be a compact electric SUV for less than 30,000 euros
Volkswagen is preparing a new B-segment electric SUV that will be presented at the end of this year and will be based on the ID.2all.

The sales of B-segment compact SUVs are growing steadily. To put things in context, sales of this type of model in Europe reached 2.46 million units in 2024, although they came second to the C-segment, which sold 2.91 million units in the same market. So it is no surprise that manufacturers are looking at these types of vehicles for their new offerings.
In the case of Volkswagen, there are two B-segment SUV models, the T-Roc and the T-Cross. We know that the T-Roc will have an electric version in a few years, starting in 2029, built on the same SSP platform used for the ninth-generation Golf. The T-Cross will have no electric version, but in its case it will be replaced by the new ID.2 X.

This model is in development and will be presented at the Munich Motor Show in September. It will be a version of the Skoda Epiq, which will be produced in Navarre, at the group’s plant in Landaben. The ID.2 X is a variant designed for crossover-style driving and more versatile than the urban model.
In principle, it will have a length of 4.1 metres and offer a boot with greater capacity than the ID.2. This is quite important, because it means it will have more interior space and will be adapted to increase occupant comfort. It will be built on the MEB Entry platform, which means it will only have front-wheel drive, the only option this architecture offers.
Its look will have much in common with the Volkswagen ID.2all, although it will improve on some aspects to stand out from the standard ID.2. It will feature two battery packs: an entry-level one with LFP technology and a capacity of 38 kWh, and a larger one with NCM technology. The latter has 56 kWh and offers a range of up to 400 kilometres on the WLTP cycle.
Charging can be done with a power of up to 125 kW on direct current. This way, it will be able to go from 10 to 80% in 20 minutes, which helps make long journeys possible with very little charging time. As for price, the figure being discussed is around 30,000 euros, so keep an eye out for more details on this model once it is presented.
