ID.4 Volkswagen Electric Cars SUV
The Volkswagen ID.XTREME is unveiled, an electric concept SUV
The German company has presented a concept vehicle based on the ID.4 GTX designed to gauge user reaction at an event.

Volkswagen continues to advance in electric mobility, and its ID. line has been strengthened with the presentation of the new concept model ID.XTREME. The presentation took place at D. Treffen, a gathering of European electric vehicle owners. It is held in Locarno, Switzerland, so it is a good place to showcase this electric SUV based on the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX.
The modifications made to this model have turned this concept variant into the most powerful vehicle in the German manufacturer’s electric range. A new software that manages the drivetrain has been added, along with a high-performance unit.

With these additions, the ID.XTREME’s figures show an output of 285 kW, equivalent to 377 CV, a figure that exceeds the ID.4 GTX by 65 kW, roughly 87 CV. The exterior of the model has a more rugged look thanks to wheel arches that are 50 mm wider, made from 3D-printed parts.

The 18-inch wheels are fitted with off-road tyres, and the car has underbody protection so it can handle the rough terrain drivers will surely subject it to. At the front there is a protective bar, and the raised suspension is noticeable, improving its off-road capability.
In addition, a roof rack has been added, increasing the vehicle’s load capacity, and it also features additional LED lights. An exclusive driving sound has been added too, projected outside through a speaker placed next to the wheel.
Inside, the seats have been replaced, with upholstery trimmed in Alcantara and orange detailing to match the overall decorative theme. The vehicle was built on a discarded test car and equipped with a used 82 kWh battery. It is a model designed to attract attention and there are no plans to put it into production, but Volkswagen states that it is taking note of drivers’ reactions and will use them to improve the brand’s upcoming electric vehicles.
