The Volvo V40 gets new family looks

The Volvo range currently consists of one compact model, two SUVs and two saloons, with their respective estate and off-road variants.
The V40 is the youngest member of the family, and after a few years on sale, it has been sent under the knife for a facelift to improve its looks and appeal.
The current V40, as we know it, was launched in 2012 with the aim of replacing both the C30 and the last generation of the S40, two segment C models that coexisted and failed to gain traction in sales due to a family cannibalisation that did not work out well.
To coincide with the Geneva Motor Show, the people at Volvo have decided to apply the brand’s new family design lines to the V40, which means a redesigned front end. In fact, this is the part that changes the most, as the light clusters are now more striking and include LED daytime running lights in the T shape that Volvo calls “Thor’s hammer”.
The front bumper is also new, as are the alloy wheels. Five new body colours have also been added: Amazon Blue, Denim Blue, Bursting Blue, Mussel Blue and Luminous Sand. It seems the folks at Volvo like blue. In addition, for the first time on the V40, identification badges for the corresponding versions will be added. Speaking of trim levels, the V40 adds two new equipment lines, the R-Design and the Inscription.
Inside, the changes are minimal, limited to new decorations and trim (Milled Aluminium, Black Grid Aluminium and Stealth Aluminium), as well as a new steering wheel, and for the first time on the V40 a black roof upholstery will be available. No mechanical changes are planned for the V40. This update will be rolled out over the coming weeks for both the standard V40 and the V40 Cross Country.
