Ford opens the Goodwood Festival of Speed with the Mustang Eagle Squadron, a 700 CV beast that will be auctioned off and of which only one will exist in the world.

The Goodwood Festival does not discriminate against any segment, since its gates are open to classics, supercars and concept cars alike. Ford has wanted to contribute with its participation the presence of a very special vehicle that will delight all motorsport enthusiasts around the world, since the impressive Mustang GT Eagle Squadron debuts today in England. This model not only aims to showcase its impressive performance to the world, but also to be auctioned and donate the proceeds to education programmes for young people from the Experimental Aircraft Association.

The creation of this Ford Mustang is meant to commemorate the 100 years of the Royal Air Force, and the muscle car has been presented as the ideal candidate to fulfil that task. Thanks to the collaboration of the oval brand with world drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr., the Mustang GT Eagle Squadron has become a reality ready to show its capabilities on the English circuit.

Ford has years of experience in the world of muscle cars, since the American brand was one of the pioneers of this segment. Thanks to that expertise, we have been able to take part in numerous variants of the Ford Mustang, but none as special as the one we will see running at the Goodwood Festival. The Eagle Squadron is not only unique in the world, but also features important changes both externally and mechanically compared to a standard Mustang.

The first thing that catches our attention is the striking styling found on this variant of the quintessential pony car. On the one hand, we notice the paint work this Mustang features, which pays tribute to the original Spitfire aircraft of the Eagle Squadron. The sportiness has also been accentuated with the addition of a carbon fibre kit signed by RTR.

It also includes a new, more aggressive splitter, a backlit grille and a Gurney spoiler, but styling is not the only thing that has been modified on this exclusive Mustang. The 5.0-litre V8 engine receives a supercharger kit, which allows the muscle car to raise its power to an impressive 700 CV and 827 Nm of torque. The suspension has also been upgraded by RTR, who have fitted adjustable MagneRide dampers, lowering springs Ford Performance and adjustable anti-roll bars.

In this way the Ford Mustang Eagle Squadron becomes one of the most special variants ever built, since only one will exist in the world. This new and improved muscle car will make its debut on English soil with Vaughn Gittin Jr. at the wheel, who will have Paul Miller in the passenger seat, since his father Dusty served in the Eagle Squadron in 1941 and 1942.
