As we have already been telling you, the PSA Group has carried out a thorough update of its range of small vans, sold under the Citroën, Peugeot and Opel brands. The first two have already announced their starting prices and availability dates, but the Opel Combo Life, which is the name it takes in its “leisure” version, has kept us waiting a little longer, and its price for Spain is finally revealed.

The Opel Combo Life shares many similarities with its sister models; it only differs in its bodywork and in small details inside, which give it a slightly different character. It uses the same EMP2 platform as the Berlingo and the Rifter, which also allows it to be offered in a short-wheelbase and a longer-wheelbase version, both with the option of seating five or seven occupants.

Whichever version you choose, the Opel Combo Life will also stand out for the great comfort it offers all its occupants, and to this we must add the load capacity for which vans are always known. If we do not need extreme capacity, the Combo Life offers 597 litres of capacity in its short version, which rises to 2,126 litres if we fold down the seats; while in the long version the capacity increases to 850 litres, reaching 2,693 litres with the seats folded. Note that the height of 1.8 metres is standard for both versions.

But capacity will not be the only advantage of the new Opel Combo Life, since, like its sister models in the group, it also makes a leap in quality in terms of what it offers its occupants. For example, they will have a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, compatible, as is now customary, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with USB ports at the front and rear to connect our gadgets, a 230 V power socket at the front, as well as wireless charging for smartphones.

Mechanically, the Opel Combo Life will use the same engines that the PSA Group has made available for the Berlingo and the Rifter. All of them already meet the upcoming Euro 6d-TEMP standard. The petrol options are two PureTech S&S units of 110 or 130 CV, while the diesels consist of BlueHDi engines in 130, 100 or 75 CV outputs; these are paired, depending on our choice, with manual or automatic gearboxes. There is even the option of fitting the IntelliGrip system, which provides better traction on slippery surfaces such as rain, snow, mud or sand.

Opel is already taking orders for the Combo Life at its dealer network, with a starting price for the base model of 14,900 euros, which already includes interesting safety and comfort equipment, such as forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, hill start assist, intelligent speed adaptation and speed limiter, driver drowsiness alert and traffic sign recognition.

There is also the Select trim for the Combo Life, which raises the starting price to 15,800 euros, but adds more very interesting equipment such as the eight-inch colour multimedia system, air conditioning and a heated steering wheel.
