Porsche and Singer join forces once again to offer a unique vehicle at Goodwood

Singer has been tasked with bringing a 911 964 back to life, modifying it in countless ways while remaining faithful to its classic spirit.

The Goodwood Festival is drawing the attention of motoring enthusiasts from around the world, as manufacturers use it not only to show off their power on the track, but also their latest creations. Singer Vehicle Design is known for offering one of the most attractive packages found in the 21st century, where the subtlety and elegance of Porsche classics blend with current mechanics and technology, always keeping their essence intact. As the 25th edition of the Goodwood Festival got underway, Singer chose to attend with a very special and emblematic vehicle.

This is not the first time Singer has surprised us with some of its creations, but on this occasion they have raised their vehicles to a level above. This is the Singer Dynamics and Lightweighting Study, a project that began in 2017 when a client and enthusiast of the brand wanted to create a much lighter and more radical model from his Porsche 911 964.

To fulfil the dream of Scott Blattner, the client and owner of the 964, and to show the world what they are capable of, Singer has modified countless elements of this very special 911 while always remaining faithful to its status as a classic vehicle. It is a unit manufactured in 1990, but the numerous mechanical changes it incorporates turn it into a contemporary supercar, yet with the skin of a car from its era.

Singer has made sure to respect the spirit of this iconic 911 generation, something that can be seen reflected in its exterior design. The American tuner has managed to preserve the subtle lines that gave life to the 911s of the late 80s and early 90s, while accentuating them with certain modern components, such as LED headlights, but the rest of the design remains intact and immaculate.

A similar approach has been applied to the cabin, as it retains its classic character while being refreshed with a few current components. On one hand, we find spectacular seats signed by Recaro, which not only hold their occupants in place but also emphasise the sporty character of the 911. We should also highlight the roll cage and the amount of carbon fibre used in the interior, an element that hints at the spectacular heart hidden within.

Looking at the mechanical side, Singer has fitted a naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine developed in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering. This engine produces 500 CV at 9,000 rpm, but its presence has forced Singer to upgrade other mechanical components that are essential in a package like the one this 911 is capable of delivering.

Since it features modern technology, Singer’s engineers have decided to improve the safety of this very special 911, so they have included ABS, stability control and several driving modes depending on the driver’s needs. The suspension has also been modified courtesy of Williams Advanced Engineering, who have fitted aluminium arms. Finally, there are also carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes, which will be responsible for stopping the 500 CV of power.

In this way Singer has done it again, as they have managed to combine the best of classic vehicles with the best of current technology. This new Porsche rebuilt by the American firm will go down in history, and in the meantime it will be on display at this edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it can be admired by those present.
