Two exclusive editions of the Porsche Inspired by the Carrera Panamericana Will Conquer the Roads

In an epic collaboration that fuses a passion for speed with the precision of timekeeping, Porsche and TAG Heuer have joined forces once again, this time to bring to life two automotive masterpieces inspired by the legendary Carrera Panamericana. The vehicles bearing competition numbers 154 and 152, based on the imposing 718 Cayman GT4 RS, are two unique examples that will be unveiled to the world at the majestic setting of the Rennsport Reunion 7, at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in California, where they will be displayed in the “TAG Heuer Heritage Experience” exhibition.
The alliance between Porsche and TAG Heuer began as a collaboration at motorsport events, grew into a series of limited-edition watches, and finally culminated in the creation of these two exclusive cars. Under the name of the project “TAG Heuer and Porsche – Legends of the Panamericana”, these vehicles are inspired by the bold spirit of the customer teams that competed in the 1953 Carrera Panamericana with the iconic Porsche 550 Coupé.

Patrick Dempsey: behind the wheel of a legend
The renowned actor and racing driver, Patrick Dempsey, will have the honor of driving car number 154 in the first and second stages of this year’s Carrera Panamericana, carrying with him the history and emotion of this unique project. Car number 152 will also be displayed at the event, but its racing sibling has a different destiny: this 718 Cayman GT4 RS will be auctioned in early 2024, and the funds raised will serve a noble purpose.
Built with German precision and the TAG Heuer touch
Both vehicles are true works of art on wheels. Their distinctive metallic Le Mans Silver color pays tribute to the Porsche 550s that made history at Le Mans by taking the first two places in the 1.5-litre class. Every exterior detail, from the window angles to the front and side air intake panels, has been carefully designed in this iconic shade. In addition, all the carbon-weave trim pieces add a touch of elegance and performance. Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated flat-six engine that shares its lineage with the powerful 911 GT3. This engine produces 500 CV (368 kW) and a torque of 450 Nm, achieving an exceptional power-to-weight ratio of 2.83 kg/CV. Paired with a PDK gearbox, these cars deliver astonishing acceleration, catapulting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, and reaching an impressive top speed of 315 km/h.

The TAG Heuer logo in dark grey adorns the bonnet and the rear spoiler fins, while a Pegasus motif appears on the front splitter on the left side of number 152 and on the left rear wheel arch of number 154, giving them the unique touch they deserve.
An interior that pays homage to Mexico
The interior of these vehicles is an incredible tribute to the Carrera Panamericana and to Mexico. The seats are upholstered in Guards Red leather, contrasting with the black of the instrument panel and door panels. The on-board interior package features a black-anodised aluminium finish, and the steering wheel spokes are also finished in elegant black.

A truly special touch is the tricolour cross embroidery in the colours of the Mexican flag and the TAG Heuer logo, found on the steering wheel and the instrument panel. The inscription “GT4 RS Panamericana Special” is engraved on the door sill protectors and printed on the passenger-side glovebox panel.
The precision of timekeeping
To further underline the partnership with TAG Heuer, car number 154 features a TAG Heuer stopwatch module on the centre console, specially designed for this project. This unique component is not available for purchase and is a tribute to the precision and commitment shared by Porsche and TAG Heuer.
