Ferrari is a brand faithful to its traditions and, as always happens with its V8 and V12 engined vehicles, an even more radical variant reaches the market. The Ferrari 488 GTB arrived on the market as the outstanding successor to the acclaimed 458 Italia and, although the aesthetic changes were not very striking, the mechanical changes were. Over time, the Italian firm decided to introduce the most radical variant of the 488, the Pista, and, after a long wait, we finally see it in action.

It is true that Ferrari is a brand of traditions, but these can also change, something that has happened with the type of engines used. Until recently, the trend was to use exclusively naturally aspirated engines, but the Cavallino Rampante firm has decided to take the leap towards forced induction, a technique that provides greater power and driving enjoyment.

Just as happens with the 488 GTB, the Pista directly adopts its same eight-cylinder twin-turbo V engine, but taken to the next level. To complement the improvements, Ferrari has also resorted to a much more aggressive and radical design, where we find not only a bolder aesthetic, but also a significant aerodynamic improvement.

Thanks to the combination of its new design with more radical mechanics, the 488 Pista showed signs of becoming one of the Cavallino Rampantes fastest of all time, but the brand made no major statements in this regard. To date, we knew that the Pista uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine capable of delivering 750 CV of power and 770 Nm of torque, but this video reveals much more.

In it, we can see how a Ferrari 488 Pista, still with its camouflage tightly wrapped around its body, sets about performing an acceleration to 100 and 200 km/h respectively. At the same time, the video also lets us hear the thunderous sound emanating from the new Cavallino, which is accompanied by a catchy symphony of crackles.

After the spectacle preceding the acceleration, the 488 Pista gets ready to launch, achieving on the stopwatch an impressive 2.5 seconds, a time that catapults it directly into hypercar territory. Furthermore, the Italian supercar is capable of reaching 200 km/h from a standstill in just 6.9 seconds, a figure that impresses while crowning it as one of the most rapid Ferrari.

The Italian firm has managed to create a tough rival for the Lamborghini Huracán Performante and Porsche 911 GT2 RS, two models that have set impressive lap times at the Green Hell. Following this statement from Ferrari, we only have to wait for the 488 Pista to head to the Nürburgring, where it will demonstrate what it is capable of.
