Toyota GR Yaris Rally1: ready to give it everything in the WRC
Based on the popular GR Yaris, Toyota’s new hybrid-powered machine has been spotted in action ahead of its WRC debut

Just over a month before the start of the legendary Monte Carlo Rally, the Japanese brand has just unveiled its new and definitive WRC weapon, the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, a machine with the great responsibility of maintaining the level Toyota set in 2021, with numerous victories in major competitions.
In addition, the upcoming WRC season will debut hybrid powertrains in its cars, replacing the traditional combustion-engine cars of the WRC and, like other competitions, adapting to environmental care and sustainability.
The Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 is atomic
In terms of design, the popular and successful Toyota hot hatchback already looks steroid-enhanced as standard, but it pales in comparison to its racing counterpart, which features a redesigned, wider front bumper, a bonnet with air intakes, oversized wheel arches together with an atomic side air intake and, last but not least and as it could not be otherwise, a gigantic spoiler inserted into the rear tailgate.

With this look that will undoubtedly not disappoint anyone, the new GR Yaris Rally1 will have under its bonnet the same 1.6-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine as the conventional GR Yaris, but supported by a hybrid system, consisting of an electric motor that adds 134 CV of power and 180 Nm of torque to the package, and a 3.9 kWh battery.
With all this, you can already imagine how this machine can fly on track, considering that it will produce close to 500 CV and that it will be driven by top drivers such as Sébastien Ogier, who, let us not forget, comes off a 2021 WRC world championship win.
Great feelings
Jari-Matti Latvala, director of Toyota Gazoo Racing, showed great enthusiasm for the behaviour of the new GR Yaris Rally1, which demonstrated that its hybrid system offers excellent functionality and truly positive performance.

As we have mentioned before, the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 will make its debut on 20 January, where it will have to prove itself at none other than the Monte Carlo Rally, showing that it is more than up to the results obtained last season in order to continue that path of success.
