Toyota TES-ERA EV shown at the Tokyo Auto Salon

Toyota has unveiled the TES-ERA EV, an electric test concept based on a previous model from the brand, the Toyota Sera.

In 1990 a Toyota began to be sold in Japan that looked a great deal like an MR2, but which had some distinctive and eye-catching details of its own, such as gull-wing doors in its domestic production version. The obscure model, called Sera (which I admit I had only just discovered), remained in production for the Japanese market for a respectable six years.

Now we come to the present day, and we show you the TES-ERA EV, a modern interpretation of that Toyota Sera, with multiple angles everywhere on the bodywork and the inevitable gull-wing doors. If anything needed to be added to the TES-ERA, it seemed to be an electric motor producing 165 horsepower. The whole thing weighs around 1,150 kilos, including the lithium-ion batteries.

According to the few details available on this concept, it reaches a top speed of 200 km/h. Unfortunately we have only a couple of photos, which do not let us see the vehicle in as much detail as we would like. And even if we could see more and comment on it, we would gain nothing more than another entry for the tally of show concepts, since Toyota will not be building it. It has only given permission to some of its engineers, who volunteered, to design whatever they wanted.

And the result is promising. If only Toyota would give us a few more details about the TES-ERA EV…

A mi parecer un diseño horripilante, con una aerodinámica poco factible. Si quisieras pulir o encerar uno de estos, saldrías cansado por la cantidad de ángulos y curvas que tiene. El Sera es más bonito.
