ID.8 Volkswagen Electric Cars Range / versions SUV
Volkswagen ID.8, the largest model in the electrified family, is now on its way
The Volkswagen electric family is expanding with the new ID.8, a large SUV that will be available in all markets to compete against the Atlas

Little by little, we can see how Volkswagen is focusing its efforts on developing a broad range of electrified vehicles with which to position itself in 2025 as one of the leading brands in electric mobility.
To this end, it is developing models to cover all the main segments, such as the small ID.3, the more compact SUV ID.4, the ID.6, which is currently the largest in the electrified range of the Wolfsburg brand, and finally the ID.8, about which we will soon learn more. We must not forget the ID.Buzz, the 100% electric van based on the iconic T1 that we have already seen on the streets.

An SUV that will be offered with 5 or 7 seats
The Volkswagen ID.8 will be a large SUV with up to seven seats and zero emissions, which will compete with the Volkswagen Atlas -pictured above-, the crossover sold only in North America, the main market the ID.8 is aimed at, a market characterised by its demand for large vehicles.
The announcement was made by Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Group, during the presentation of the “New Auto” strategic plan, in which it was stated that the new Volkswagen ID.8 will be a global product, meaning it will also reach the European market, unlike the ID.6, which is only sold in China.

Around five metres long
The dimensions of this new electrified SUV will be approximately five metres, so we are talking about a vehicle of similar size to the Volkswagen Atlas already mentioned or the Audi Q7, an SUV we are more used to seeing on the streets.
It will be built on the already familiar MEB platform, which is used across all of the German brand’s electrified vehicles. For now, we have no further details about the batteries or motors it will feature.

This large SUV is expected to arrive in 2025 or even earlier, in line with the plans that form part of the brand’s roadmap. In this way, it would join, alongside the coupé version of the ID.4, the ID.5 that will be unveiled later in 2021, as new members of the ID family that Volkswagen needs to offer a broad range of sustainable vehicles and become the leading brand in electric mobility.
