Volkswagen ID. Buzz Pro: more battery and more range for the seven-seater ID. Buzz

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz Pro receives a new motor with more power and improved range thanks to a higher-capacity battery, which allows up to 487 km to be homologated on a single charge.

Up to 487 km of range is claimed by Volkswagen for the new ID. Buzz Pro, the long-wheelbase, seven-seat version of the electric MPV, which features a new 86 kWh battery. It is not a huge leap, considering the “small” battery already has 79 kWh and takes range up to 461 km, which is not bad at all. In both cases, fast charging lets you recover from 10% to 80% of energy in 30 minutes.

For the versions with the 79 kWh battery, DC charging now reaches up to 185 kW (15 kW more than before), rising to 200 kW with the large battery. Another interesting update is the motor, which in all ID. Buzz Pro versions now produces 210 kW (286 CV).

Up to seven seats and a huge boot

This technical update suits the ID. Buzz Pro very well. It has a wheelbase of 3.24 metres and a length of 4.96 metres, 25 cm more than the short-wheelbase ID. Buzz. That extra length allows a third row with two seats, for up to seven seats in total. In the five-seat configuration the boot offers a volume of no less than 1,340 litres, and with seven seats it still has 306 litres for luggage. With the second and third row seats folded down, the ID. Buzz Pro turns into a true “van”, with up to 2,469 litres.

The ID. Buzz update also affects the software in all versions, with a new generation of the multimedia system. The screen grows from 12 to 12.9 inches, a new illuminated touch bar is added to control both climate control and audio volume, and the new voice assistant, which integrates ChatGPT, understands natural language. Other improvements include the ability to park remotely via smartphone and the addition of an exit warning system.

The new ID. Buzz GTX, the most powerful model, is also offered with two battery sizes and short and long bodies. The top-of-the-range version, with 250 kW (340 CV) and all-wheel drive, has a towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg and comes with distinctive equipment, including an exclusive front design, 20-inch wheels, a sports chassis, matrix LED headlights and the “Red Cherry” body colour, as well as GTX-specific upholstery with red contrast stitching. For now, the GTX versions still do not have a final homologated range figure.
