We have been reading about the Volvo XC 40 Recharge for a while now, but it is only at this point that we have been able to learn not only more details about this electric model from the Swedish manufacturer, but also a good image gallery of the car. It is the first electric car from Volvo, and we can see that it is genuinely an interesting bet that goes beyond aesthetics.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge is equipped with two electric motors, one for each axle, capable of delivering a combined output equivalent to 402 CV and a considerable range that will reach 400 kilometres, according to the brand. This powertrain is shared with another electric car in the group, the Polestar 2.

These performance figures come from a pack of 78 kWh batteries, which can reach 80% of their capacity in just 40 minutes, although this requires an ultra-fast 150 kW charger. In addition, the XC40 Supercharge features connectivity offered by Google integrated into the infotainment system, so it will serve as the basis for integrating this system into other models of the brand.

Volvo wants to advance its range of electric vehicles, so the Supercharge brand will be present in other models with electric or hybrid configurations. The intention of Volvo is for 20% of its sales in 2020 to represent electric and hybrid models, so we will soon see more models of these characteristics.

Buyers who visit the Volvo website from 2020 onwards will first be greeted by a message asking whether they want a Recharge model. From there, they will enter the various sections of the website to find the vehicle they are looking for or the information they need.

By 2040, Volvo wants to be a company fully committed to the environment and to offer cars that respect it, leading this kind of responsible mobility. Currently, Volvo has low-emission versions, such as the XC40, the S60 and V60, and the brand’s flagship, the XC90 SUV.
