The new BMW M3 Touring could be fitted with a curved screen that would dominate the dashboard of the new member of the BMW M performance division.

A curved screen could dominate the interior of the BMW M3 Touring! A few weeks ago, rumours were published about the possibility that the new BMW M3 and BMW M4 would inherit the curved screen linked to the brand’s iDrive 8 system. Now, the Bavarian brand has published two images on its Instagram account from which we can deduce that the future sporty touring model will feature this type of screen.

The update of the BMW 3 Series, generation G8x, is reaching the halfway point of its life cycle, which is why the entire range will feature the new software and central console, iDrive 8. We were able to see this system for the first time in the BMW iX and the BMW i4. As has been reported, the BMW M3 Touring will feature unique screens and options.

Everything we know about the BMW M3 Touring

The published images show the BMW M3 Touring camouflaged during tests carried out at the Arjeplog centre that the brand owns in Sweden. The caption only describes it as a car on ice. This doesn’t reveal much, but we can already anticipate that the Competition version of this model will inherit the 3.0-litre, six-cylinder in-line twin-turbo engine, which could produce more than 500 CV.

What exactly makes the system called BMW iDrive 8 so good compared with the previous version? Since iDrive 7, the digitalisation requirements of modern cars, particularly in the premium segment, have become more demanding. Today’s systems need to offer many more processes and applications to keep up with current connectivity and entertainment standards.

The response of the Bavarian brand and its performance division to these demands is a system designed to process a large amount of data, resulting in an experience that offers greater speed, personalisation and clarity. Both the 12.3-inch instrument cluster and the 14.9-inch infotainment screen offer a resolution of 200 ppi, but it is not clear whether these exact dimensions will be implemented across all BMW models. We will have to wait until the official presentation of the model. Honestly, we are very eager to get to know this model, which will go down in the history of the brand, first-hand.
