ABT will attend the Geneva Motor Show with the Volkswagen e-Transporter, the most radical electric van

Who said sportiness, versatility and electric power couldn’t go hand in hand? ABT surely didn’t, since the German tuner has just announced that the Volkswagen e-Transporter will be present at the Geneva Motor Show. This name corresponds to the electric van devised by ABT, which aims to demonstrate that none of these three traits are incompatible thanks to today’s technology. In this way, we can see how the efficiency of an electric vehicle adds to the practicality of the van from Wolfsburg, which could in the future have a variant equipped with this type of powertrain.

However, ABT has wanted to get ahead of Volkswagen by bringing this Frankenstein of the automotive world to life, in which we can see a highly attractive ensemble. This is how the tuner has also wanted to show its clear interest in electric powertrains, a type of engine that increasingly has a place even in the world of modifications.

A design that breaks with everything established

Until recently we were used to electric vehicles featuring a more refined and clean design, a clear nod to their commitment to the environment. However, ABT has unleashed its most radical side with the e-Transporter, a van that matches the rest of the German tuner’s creations.

A much more prominent front bumper crowns the nose alongside a sporty splitter, which aims to increase the sportiness of the whole. This job is also handled by the 20-inch wheels of specific design that sit on the German van, along with a lowered suspension that not only improves its appearance, but also its dynamic behaviour.

The rear is dominated by a spoiler on top of the tailgate and a diffuser that can better fulfil its purpose thanks to the absence of an exhaust outlet. At the same time, we must also mention the vinyls spread across the entire body of the e-Transporter, ensuring that this marriage between electrification and sportiness is present on all four sides.

Power and range on two different levels

It is true that ABT is known for squeezing every last drop of sportiness from the vehicles that pass through its hands, but on this occasion it has opted for more modest performance for the e-Transporter. This is reflected in its heart, which is capable of delivering 111 CV and 200 Nm of torque in the entry-level version, figures complemented by a range of 200 kilometres alongside a consumption of 18 kWh/100 km and a charging time of 49 minutes to reach 80% capacity.

However, the German brand’s customers will also be able to opt for a more powerful variant, which features a 74.6 kWh battery that requires a charging time of 98 minutes to also reach 80% of its available capacity. Thanks to this, the German van can offer up to 400 kilometres of range, a figure more inviting for taking a long trip and getting around the urban world without hesitation.
