Almost 11,000 new electric vehicles were delivered in Norway last October

Toyota has managed to position its only electric model on sale in Europe as the leader in registrations in Norway during the past month.

Last October, 10,862 electric vehicles were registered in Norway, which puts the market share of this type of vehicle above 90 percent of total registrations. This Nordic country thus remains, once again, the spearhead of the transition to electric mobility in Europe.

The best-selling electric model in Norway last month was the Toyota bZ4X, closely followed by the Skoda Enyaq. It is also worth noting that in the list of best-selling models one has to go down to position 23 to find the first one that does not have a fully electric drive system.

According to the latest data from the Norwegian road authority (OFV), although the peak of 96.4 percent market share for electric models recorded in September was not reached, this figure was not much lower, at 94 percent, with similar percentages in previous months. These data show that Norway has reached a very high level of electric vehicle adoption, becoming the norm in the country, while vehicles with combustion engines are now the exception.

Norway will thus end the year with an electric vehicle market share that will probably reach 90 percent, given that with the cumulative figure of deliveries for the first ten months of the year, it stands at 89 percent.

Sales figures for vehicles with other powertrains

To the 10,862 electric vehicles registered in Norway in October, already mentioned, were added another 178 plug-in hybrid vehicles, equivalent to a market share of 1.5 percent for this type of vehicle. Additionally, 192 new hybrid vehicles without a charging connector began to circulate on the roads of this Nordic country, with a market share of 1.7 percent. The number of petrol-engined vehicles, on the other hand, is almost negligible, with 63 units and a 0.5 percent market share. Meanwhile, diesel vehicle registrations reached 257 units, with a 2.2 percent market share. However, no hydrogen fuel cell vehicle was registered.

In the Top 10 best-selling models, the Toyota bZ4X ranks first with 761 registered units, slightly ahead of the Skoda Enyaq, with 757 units. They are followed by the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y with 696 and 645 units respectively. Next we also find the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Nissan Ariya, both with 642 units. And the list closes with the Ford Explorer -458 units-, Volkswagen ID.7 -444-, Volvo EX30 -381 units- and Volkswagen ID.3 -366 units-.
