Alpina B3 sedan 2020, a preview of the BMW M3 G80?
The 2020 Alpina B3 sedan will debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show and will act as the ‘appetiser’ ahead of the unveiling of the BMW M3 G80.

Can’t you wait any longer for the German brand to finally launch the new BMW M3 G80? Understandable, we can’t either, but as a preview, Alpina has launched the new Alpina B3 saloon 2020. This high-performance sedan follows in the footsteps of the new Alpina B3 Touring and will be officially presented during the first quarter of 2020.
The power comes from the three-cylinder in-line, 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine from Munich, which Alpina has reworked and paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox.

It is capable of producing 462 CV and a maximum of 700 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 4,250 rpm. It can reach 303 km/h and go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, which makes it 0.1 seconds quicker than the Alpina B3 Touring.
Like its estate sibling, the new performance sedan features the intelligent all-wheel-drive system based on the xDrive of BMW. This distributes torque variably between the two axles as required.

It will also maximise traction through fast corners by means of an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential, while contributing to dynamic yet comfortable driving. The suspension has been recalibrated with three driving modes (Comfort +, Comfort and Sport). In addition, a Sport + driving mode is available for the variable sport steering, torque distribution and gearbox.
The new performance saloon features several aerodynamic elements, a sports exhaust system with twin tailpipes integrated into the rear diffuser and 20-inch forged wheels (19-inch for winter tyres) fitted with Pirelli tyres. Customers can also choose from the paint finishes Alpina Blue Metallic and Alpina Green Metallic, which are exclusive to the model.

Inside, the model’s details are visible from the door sills, where ‘Alpina’ can be read, along with a plaque bearing the model’s production number, a sports steering wheel in hand-stitched Lavalina leather, metal emblems on the floor mats and seatbacks. The company’s in-house leather shop offers practically unlimited personalisation options, allowing owners to tailor the interior to their personal preferences.
The new saloon from the car manufacturer based in Buchloe will be unveiled at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. The sedan also features a dedicated Alpina cooling system that ensures thermal stability of the high-performance engine even under the highest loads. It consists of a large-volume intercooler, enlarged cooling air ducts and a powerful main cooling package together with a 1,000-watt electric fan. This is complemented by two additional external coolers.

The high-performance braking system consists of four-piston fixed brake calipers with 395 mm diameter brake discs on the front axle and floating brake calipers with 345 mm diameter brake discs on the rear axle. Drilled discs and upgraded calipers are available as an option.
